Just got around to seeing the high seas adventure....while Russell Crowe does nothing for me, the guy who was the first officer and the doctor were both kinda hot.

It really is an amazing movie. Extremely well done and avoids the Hollywood trappings, but unfortunately it didn't do so hot at the box office and now it looks like it'll get passed over for awards as well. Really too bad, Hollywood doesn't make many near this quality, and this'll just be used as a reason why in the future.

 

It really is something to see on a big screen if you can, it's come back to a couple theaters (with new prints instead of worn-out ones) in an awards push, so if it's playing in your area please consider it. It's not like there's much else in theaters so far this year!

I agree that the movie is better seen in a theater. It is well crafted and moves at a pace slower than today's instant gratification MTV style. It has prompted me to want to read the series of books.
