Back when I was hiring, I once used Amtrak to get from Wa State to Portland, Or. Once in Portland I used their light rail to get to the hotel I was staying at for an overnight with an escort there. It wasn't the most fun thing-carrying luggage on the light rail-but I've done it before when traveling to and from airports around NYC and Chicago. So it's doable.

When I lived in Mahattan I went everywhere by subway and/or taxi. I take public transit to work here in LA and it works ok. If you're going someplace near a Metro rail/subway station I think you'll be fine. Buses are another story entirely. They tend to be slow and unreliable. I have yet to try Uber in LA.

RSully,

What part of LA are you coming from? It's harder to give advice on whether public transportation is a good idea for you without knowing your starting point. No need for you to give an actual address obviously, but a city or part of LA would be helpful.

I would be coming from the North Hollywood station for starters.

RSully,

Take the Red line subway from North Hollywood to Hollywood. From there take a bus into West Hollywood. Simple.

Good luck and be safe.

I'll probably be learning that during my travel training. But thanks.
