This is sort of how I would imagine some of my family and friends reactions would be on Facebook, if they saw what we posted in the fetish forum....;)

Well... BVB... I was really not referencing our postings in the Fetish Forum!!!! But rather what I post in the Arts Forum!!!!

Ya know, you tell folks out there that you like opera and then Maria Callas too boot and if they don't look at you as if you have two heads (well on your shoulders that is) then the knives come out... Yes, it can get vicious and why I stopped posting in a certain opera forum years ago!

It's all so much safer and saner here!  I kid you not!

FB doesn't do much for me personally though I have a bunch of friends from HS and college that I've kept up with purely because of FB. Professionally I deal with our company's social media and FB and it is invaluable. I buy advertising all the time because it can be laser targeted.

Back in the dark ages of around 2007-2008, I had decided not to get on Facebook or MySpace because I thought they were for young people. Shortly thereafter, I received an email 'request' to join from Facebook using the real name of a retired porn star/escort that I had the pleasure of meeting several times. So I joined Facebook. After getting on, I realized that FB had just gone through his email address book and sent out requests-that the retired escort hadn't especially wanted me personally to become his FB friend. But I stayed on it. Over the next year, FB seemed to explode-all these people I had grown up with or had gone to college with suddenly showed up on there. I am 'FB friends' with multitudes of these people even though I wasn't actually friends with them when we were sharing classroom space together.

Still I don't usually mind seeing their news. In point of fact since my involuntary retirement (three years ago this month in fact---WHOOPEE!! Happy Anniversary To Me!!!) this site, FB, the NY Times, LGBTQ Nation, and Gaystar News have been some of the only things that have kept me at least in the vicinity of sanity even if I have crossed over the line into the Looney Zone. Plus FB is the main way I get news and pictures of my great-nephews and niece.
