There was a lengthy thread in The Lounge not too long ago that covered Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis. You may want to do a search and read through it. Of course, some members may have more up to date information based on their own experience.

Yep, the new entries into the market does give people a few choices here now. There have been no head-to-head clinicials done yet, and that is highly unlikely. All three have very similiar side effects and some differences in selectivity for PDE.

 

PDE 5 - erectile function

PDE 6 - visual

PDE 11 - skeletal muscle

 

Viagra has a lower affinity for the PDE 5 than Levitra and Cialis. Levitra has a greater affinity for PDE 6 (visual) than Cialis.

Cialis has a greater affinity for PDE 11 (skeletal muscle) than Levitra.

Try all three, they all work; different people...different responses. The long half life of Cialis would be troublesome for me if I had any side effect that I have to endure for 36 hours.

One more difference. You're suppposed to wait three hours after a meal, especially a fatty meal, before taking Viagra. I am pretty sure that Levitra can be taken after a meal. I'm sure I will be corrected if this is incorrect.

I believe it is related to a standardized system of nomenclature for existing and newly discovered isozymes of cyclic nucleotide PDEs. See:

For me Cialis at 10mg lasted a good 16 hours. The side effects were milder than with Viagra, but still annoying, mainly mild shortness of breath(I am very out of shape). I might try a smaller dosage.
