Changes at LeBoy -- for the worse

LeBoy no longer has dancers on Mondays.

But that's not the really bad news.

There is a new lap dance/back room policy. Sitting outside the lap dance booths is a cashier. To be alone with your dancer of choice, you pay $20 for 15 minutes or $30 for 25 minutes for a VIP band which is fastened to your wrist. You also have to pay the dancer, of course; the dancers have been told they should charge $50 -- not sure for how much time -- but, as in the past, that amount is subject to private negotiation between the two of you. When you emerge from seclusion, the dancer then pays $15 to the cashier out of whatever you gave him. If you take a second dancer for a spin, you get a $5 discount on the $20/$30 pricing.

Needless to say, this has cut severely into the dancers' earnings -- it's a rare client who will take a chance on an unknown dancer at those prices.

Client/dancer discontent may already be having some effect. Supposedly, before 8:30 pm there is no VIP wristband charge. Also, as I was hesitating between 15 and 25 minutes, the cashier offered me a special: 25 minutes at the 15 minute price. And Wednesday night, there was a special: $15 for 30 minutes, IIRC.

In case you were wondering, they do keep track of time.

In almost all other ways, I'm very happy with LeBoy. The music was kept at a decent volume, the room has a nice, cozy feeling, the dancers are almost uniformly attractive and put effort into their costumes and routines.

Thanks for the info Newatthis. I was there Monday and realized there were no dancers. Mondays are Karaoke now. It was kind of crowded, and everyone had fun, but on Friday and Saturday, business seemed OK. I think those prices are steep for a club like LeBoy. They are more in line with SR. Plus most all of the boys will negotiate a price outside the club, and at a better rate. ;)

Sounds like the House is getting greedy. Pity the boys have to take a hit. Not a deal breaker for me. Guess I'm one of those rare clients. An extra 20 here and there to have fun won't keep me away. I hope there isn't an exodus of some of the hot guys. Time will tell.

I was in Ft. Lauderdale for a couple of months Jan-Feb and went to LeBoy exactly twice, admittedly early ( before 9 ). There were no dancers on either occasion so I didn't go back. I used to like the early hours at Johnny's because the customer count was lower and the boys were always willing to entertain if you were so inclined. Many a good times were had but I guess no more... sad.

That was my thought also. Perhaps the new location is not as lucrative as he had hoped and Sean is trying to generate more revenue. At any rate, Jake, the now infamous forum member, who has written numerous reviews here on FTL clubs is coming Sat. He always provides a thorough and a 'no-nonsense' review for the MF. More to come.....

This is indeed sad news. I discovered the policy change last night. Several of the dancers have left already, including Eric who had been there for several years. I agree with Poppie and BVB, Sean is out for more revenue at the expense of the dancers. He is hiring entertainment - comedians, magicians, geisha drag queens, etc - and perhaps needs the extra revenue to pay for them. Several of the dancers hinted at that. Most guys come there to be entertained by the dancers, not others. I think that change might have sounded the death knell for LeBoy.

Just when it seemed Sean pulled his friggin' bald head out of his ass, he does this. If I didn't already make arrangements, I'd have skipped the trip this weekend.

Fine, charge a cover if you have to. But taking the $$ away from the dancers is just pure stupidity.

Someone told me they had two different type of rooms. One of the rooms was up front and it was like for a 1/2 hour or so and the rooms in the back were for the lap dancers ( shorter time). Does anyone know about that? So now with the longer and more $$$ time in the lap dance areas in addition to the lap dance room fee what is the going rate for the 20-25 minute time with the dancer. Also never have been there do they have curtains like the old Johnnys? Like football do they give you a two minute warning to "finish up"?

What I described in the post originating this thread was what you are calling "the rooms in the back [...] for the lap dancers." I do not know the current status or charges for the room in front that used to be called the VIP Room. When I was there this past week, Sean seemed to be using it occasionally as some sort of private parlor for some of the boys and some of his friends.

The back booths have curtains and are completely private (though there can be people outside close by).

When I emerged from the back the first time (when I had the "25 minutes for the 15-minute price" special), the cashier remarked to me that he had given us some extra time. No one interrupted us. The second time, there was some conversation between the cashier and my dancer which I thought was about the cashier saying through the curtain that time was up -- but I certainly didn't hear him, nor am I sure that that's actually what their conversation was about.

I think if I went to this place, I would be pissed off. pay to get in, pay the 15 min for whatever price, then pay the stripper, then the stripper has to give part of that to the club? WTH, the club got its money the first time, now its just being greedy. Id stick some extra in the poor dancers shorts, but he'd probably be cavity searched by the club people.

I hope this experiment is short lived. Otherwise I see this place going downhill fast. Only a fraction of the dancers. Several were hot but none worth triple digits. Recognized a tall lanky blond as "Broc Ross" from Bait Buddies.

Read my review from my last visit and I was giving Sean props left and right. In 2 months, he's managed to screw everything up royally. Keep it simple baldy. Hire hot boys. Treat them well. Customers will follow genius.

Now Johnnys / LeBoy is part strip club, part comedy club, part drag bar, part art gallery. Art gallery? Yes. Sean's latest stroke of brilliance is to become an art dealer. Someone went to Kinkos and blew up fairly well known pieces of art and poured a $2 jar of glitter over them and slapped a $3,500 price tag on each one. One is listed for $4,000. The decimal points were three digits too far the right.

Idiot.

I stayed for about a half hour before I peaced out. Never went back. Way to go Sean.

BTW, there is a little theatre about three blocks from LeBoy called The Empire Theatre, and they are cutrrently doing a show with lots of nudity. It is a play called "Male Peep Show" which takes place in NYC during the 90's. The star is Chad Donovan - porn star from the 90's from Falcon Studio. Lot's of references to the Gaiety and the Showpalace for those of you who remember those places.

  • 4 weeks later...

I passed by LeBoy last night and wasn't impressed with anything at all. I know it's mostly a twink bar but I keep going hoping they hire a few muscle guys. Still full of twinks. I was surprised that there was only 5-6 dancers for a Friday night. I was there for 20 mins then headed to Boardwalk.
