Saw it this evening. Brilliantly done! Of course some critics pick it to pieces on grounds of scientific accuracy, and some gay critics pick it to pieces because there is no depiction of the "homosexual" Alan Turing having sex or even snuggling with a guy -- but I don't think those elements would be necessary to tell this story and they would be simply gratuitous. It is "based on a real story" and there is poetic truth even if all the details and all the science aren't absolutely perfect. It is worth seeing. It is a tribute to a man who made an important contribution to saving the Western world from fascism. It is a poignant tale of human misunderstanding and intolerance. And it is brilliantly acted by the entire cast, especially Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing, the intellectual father of the computer age.
