Normally, ads remain on Backpage for weeks (or longer) unless the ad violates some rule or the advertiser requests it to be removed.

True. I saw an ad in Detroit for an interesting looking guy, the google search on his phone turned out some flaky hits so I didn't investigate any further. Next day it was gone.
