Mondo I hope you're not betting on our NFL Hooville Pool :) Just a little humor.

Hey I think it is great that you're evaluatiing the situation. Some believe in touch love some don't and that is ok. It again shows that many here seem to care enough to send you a message, that being get help as quick as you can. We all seem to agree on that :).

Well you flunked with flying colors, so what excuse do you have in saying " The program really isn't for [you]?" Do you have some illussion that you are better than or don't have as bad a problem as others in that program? I don't want to sound unsympathetic, but you're dodging taking care of your problem--probably cause you really don't want to quit despite seeing where it's taking you.

Until you are ready to admit you have a problem and admit you need help and be willing to ACCEPT help, You'll continue on the same self-destructive path you've been on. You've admited the you have a problem and that you need help, but you are making excuses for not getting it. I've seen this with clients and learned long ago that there is no use even trying to help until they're ready to accept it.

With the background you have given us, I'm willing to bet you've been in some type of self help program or counseling before. Anyway, good luck.

flower in a sense you're right I don't want to quit. I love everything about gambling, the sounds, the cards, the feel of a tall stack of checks, the sport of it all. But I know I have to quit otherwise at my age I won't be able to continue to live a comfortable life, that I bascially have somewhat destroyed and now must rebuild again.

I am looking for a BK attorney, so is anybody knows one in So California please send me a inbox message or post it here.

I am sure GA works well for many people but I don't feel it is for me. I don't like groups (plus I am affraid they will throw me in OA by mistake :) I lived in Las Vegas for many years and know what gambling can do to people. I just feel I can find a better way to quit.

Since I currently have no money quitting is easy. I now just need to find a way tohandle my next pay day. I might set up a direct deposit to a friend and let him pay my bills from those checks. I don't know it is still a work in progress.

OK so I have gone on about this so much I am sure between this and my Asian twink friend you guys are sick of my drama this week. I do thank you all again for your concern. it does put a smile on my face knowing people do care.

Oh Huey I actually did bet once on the football pool with my only gay friend. I bet him $50. I would finished first that week lol I didn't. Oh well.

Mondo, what comfortanle way of life? You are looking to file for bankruptcy, you are in debt beyond your means, you worry from week to week how you will pay rent/bills/etc,you are looking to sell possesions so you can get money to flush down the toilet. My friend-you have a very twisted view of what comfort is.

"I don't like groups"well I bet when you go into one of those casinos you are not by yourself.

"i love the sounds of the cards-the high stacks of chips"well how do you like wondering if you have enough cash on hand to fill your tank with gas to get to work? How do you like having to dodge friends and family at christmas because your cc's are all maxed out and you don't have enough cash to get anyone any presents?

Personal BK might be an option AFTER you stop this destructive behavior. If you have any cc advances from a casino cage guess what? The banks have cause to question your petition. And Bk will effect your ability to get a new job,or a new apartment in the future.

So you ARE willing to sit in front of a stranger for an hour and disclose personal information,in this case an attorny. But you will not spend that same hour with a therapist?

"Some of us sought a softer easier way-but we could not"that is from the mission stement"How it works"(and I did not give a n accurate quote-but that is the gist of it)read before the start of any 12 step program based on AA.

So again I say report back here when you have taken some steps to help yourself, rather than giving us further reasons on why your problem is not as bad as you thought it was.

MONDO,you never have to gamble again-period.

Big Guy just a point of clarification if Mondo is in California as he says. It's illegal for an employer to use a credit report to base any part of their decision on hiring. There are a few exceptions though they can be counted on one hand.

You guys were right. I was paid today (direct deposit hit on Thanksgiving) and needless to say it is all gone so my car looks pretty comfortable at the moment. I knew I was in trouble when I kept cheking my bank account from about 3am last night till it was updated. I kind of thought that my pay would hit today.

Anyway, I will be contacting a local GA meeting most likely after work tomorrow or during the weekend, whenever the next one is. But I do need to go to work so I cannot do it sooner.

I hope this is not going to turn into a situation like I ran into when I worked for the gay switchboard back in the '70's. I got a call from a gay guy who had a definite problem (he said) with eating. I talked to him for about 15 minutes about the various overeaters groups and to discipline himself to stop this bad habit, yadda, yadda, yadda. From that time on he called about every 15 minutes telling me the latest things he had eaten (Snickers bars, Mars bars, cookies, etc) and wanted me to tell him he had been bad and then he would say he had been bad and he was sorry and he would do better. Got to the point that I literally hated even to pick up the phone to talk to people because it might be him. Don't know if he played this game with others but it is too bad if people are in this kind of destructive spiral.

That said, I do hope this guy does realize the destructive nature of his addiction and takes advantage of the facilities around to help him learn to handle it. It is sad to watch from the sidelines and not be able to help someone who is addicted to anything but they have to help themselves if they are ever going to get over it.

Mondo.I am sorry you had to hit bottom-but some folks have to sink so low before they realize that willpower alone will not solve this problem.I think smoking and gabling are the two hardest addictions to give up-but the results of a positive course of therepy will change your life.Best of luck-and remember deeds not words will get the job done.

You never have to gamble again.
