Boardwalk Winning Streak Ends

BVB's doom and gloom reports on Boardwalk are dead on. The winning streak is over. Read my previous trip recaps and you'll see I'm totally Johnny's material. Older beefy dancers aren't my thing and it was a shock to me when Boardwalk started beating out Johnny's trip after trip. When the curtains went up, the place started to give Johnny's a run for its (any my) money.

The recent events have brought that winning streak to a grinding halt. I couldn't drink my pre-9pm buy 1 get 1 free drink fast enough. I can't just leave a free drink behind. Goes against my religion (Alcoholic).

As it always seems to be, their bartenders are top notch. It's just that the dancer roster last night was full of the guys I usually just wouldn't even reply to on Grind'r. I didn't think to look in the back room area but I'd imagine the curtains are still down.

The great thing about these clubs is when one club slacks, the other tends to pick it up. Johnny's has made no changes... except they ditched the wall pictures. They are just the default winner when Boardwalk loses. Johnny's management is the epitome of laziness. Through no effort of their own, they won my business. There were only a handful of dancers who were new to me (it's been about 2 or 3 months since my last visit). But as it sometimes happens, there's that one dancer that is a jaw dropper. And you're going to hate me, but I forgot his damn name.

Let's just call him Sven. He looks like he just came off a cross-Atlantic flight from Germany. 19 or 20, perfectly styled natural blond hair, blue eyes, tall, flawless toned smooth body, a smile that will stop traffic, well spoken, and super friendly. Sven had no accent though - he is from the midwest. Twink lover's dream. Just simply stunning. As you can imagine, you have to make an effort to get his attention as he is constantly surrounded by eager customers and equally eager dancers vying for a few words with him. I positioned myself several times to "run into" him organically, but it just never happened. And I'm just not the type who grabs someone by the arm when they walk by... I'll shoot a smile, make eye contact... from there, it's up to them.

It was ok though - there were about 6 or 7 others who were totally backroom worthy. There was a shaggy haired 19 year old blond named Taylor, a insanely athletic toned probably Blatino with a super lean body and abs for days (I usually like 'em pale as chalk, but this one's hot), a tiny pocket sized cute twink named Anthony I met last trip, who was boring as hell in the back, but gets the job done.

As I pondered which of the runner ups I was going to settle for, I got a tap on the shoulder. I was playing with my phone so I was a little annoyed for the disruption. That was until I turned around and my heartbeat started racing. Yes, it was Sven. After some small talk, I realized this was one of those guys who you'll always remember... one of those Hall of Fame dancers that you hope to run into on future visits, but you know damn well you won't. Comes from an upper class upbringing, smart, humble, conversational... all the things you hope he would be as you gaze at him (ok, stare fine I was probably staring) from across the bar. I knew full well that this will be the last time I see him. Guys like him don't last long at Johnny's. They don't even make him dance on stage. He's A-List. I don't have a photo of him and saw none on Johnny's site or social media (stupid move on their part, speaks to the Johnny's laziness I mentioned earlier), but the closest celeb I can give you ... Google Ross Lynch. He's Ross but taller, leaner and more Bel Ami Euro looking.

OK now I have to ruin it for you a bit. He's a bit dull in the back. But if Zac Efron was working the bars and wasn't totally interactive in the back, I doubt you'd have an issue. I didn't. If you want the full experience, I'm sure other dancers can accommodate. But I was content.

So that was night 1. I'll probably make the same rounds tonight. I'll try to stick it out at Boardwalk a little longer this time, but if by the end of 2 for 1 drinks there are no contenders, I'm high tailing it out of there again. It was just awkward dodging the guys I had no interest in just hoping for one to walk in that was a 6 or a 7.

For the big muscle lovers, sorry but no trips to Swinging Richards or Twist are on my agenda. Just not my type.

for someone who has never been to FLL, can you expand on what constitutes "dull in the back" and what is "full experience". I know what CAN happen in montreal strip clubs in the back, but what about FLL?

I don't feel comfortable answering in specifics. Maybe someone else will. I visit both and would say the back room experience isn't all that different between Montreal and Ft Lauderdale.

I'll just say Sven just didn't do what escorts generally do. But I was OK with that. I just know others aren't.

I found a pic of him though.

Hey,

thanks for the report ...and posting Sven's pic...which matches your description perfectly ! No wonder he's a busy boy.

Sorry that BW didn't float your boat I'm more into muscle guys, so maybe there's some dancers still there for me; though I have found BW to be hit or miss -- mostly miss recently.

I hope Swinging Richards is going strong...maybe the management shake-up will get it back on track...if anyone has been recently, please chime in.

I guess that's why they say different strokes for different folks.

We must have very different tastes because I was at Johnny's last night and found it to be as bad as ever.

I usually like Boardwalk and I have to agree with you that things there aren't great right now either.

I also don't bother with Twist (hate dealing with the parking nightmare) or SR (hate the ridiculous price structure for everything).

Thanks for the picture of Sven... I can see why you were smitten... :D I wonder if he would have met you "after work" at your hotel? Some guys don't seem to want to "perform" at the clubs, but are most open to meeting after work or the next day before they go back to work.. At least it would be worth a try !!

He did seem to be exchanging numbers. BTW I know it sounds cliche but that pic really doesn't do him justice.

Exactly that's why I like to preface my reviews with my dancer preferences. Muscle lovers should just ignore my reviews lol. I like a little muscle. Ryan Phillipe type is great. But slim is my favorite so yeah that's why it was so weird when Boardwalk was taking top honors these last few trips.

Sure thing glad to do it. I always appreciate when others share their experiences when I can't visit.

BTW Sven is the one on the left in the pic. Haha :-P

Hey Jake, sorry I missed you in FTL. Thanks for the thorough reporting on the BW. Looks like the BW was a wash for you. I went again last night, and found it really dismal. Greco is now bar tending, that's a good thing, but Omar might be leaving for LA to work at the Abbey in WEHO. I will really miss him. Can't really get a handle on the BW right now. Things are just a little odd. Very little energy in the place. Looks like we will just have to wait and see how everything shakes out.

Made a trip to The Floppy Rooster in Miami with some friends from FTL. Long story short, I will not be returning. They seemed to enjoy it, but I don't like the set up. Some of the dancers were incredible, but not enough of them, and the seating was very limited. The problem is that if you want to leave to go somewhere else, like to Twist, it is a half hour drive into Miami. Nothing else is really close by.

Yeah the vibe is definitely sedate at BW. Not a single guy to get excited about. Usually there's one or two, but that weekend it was just painfully awkward to dodge the dancers hoping one hottie would magically appear from the locker room.

Is Floppy's like BJ Rooster's in Atlanta? I liked that place. I'm going to guess most of the guys there aren't my type? What's their curtain situation?

Hey Jake, have not been to BJ Rooster's in Atlanta, but there wasn't anyone at Floppy's that you would have liked. I did a private in a booth, but that was it. I have no idea what's going on at SR lately. I want to give them a few months to re-organize before I go by to see what's going on. I will post when I know something concrete.
