I have read many articles about anti-HIV drugs that prohibit the spread of HIV. I was shocked to see Michael Lucas, a major advocate for safe sex, now film bareback scenes on his website. The fact that he would participate in bareback scenes surprised me.

There's a lot of controversy about PReP. Now that the drug Truveda is becoming more available, are escorts suggesting barebacking? I am not sure what the CDC's opinion on this is, but I would think they would be opposed.

Are escorts and clients encouraging unsafe sex and mutually agreeing to barebacking?

Not in my world ! If I see an escort would do that I move right on.

I also don't hire guys who BB in porno movies or with their clients, and I've suffered a few pack attacks on here besides been called a condom Nazi.

Do Republicans (Or democrats) say bigoted things? Do women want to get married? Do children eat their vegetables?

Of course the only way to answer these questions is: "Some do, some don't".

More than worrying about what others do I would recommend to do your homework, educate yourself and make up your own mind about what your practices will be like. Then stick to your guns. Practice the art of stating your boundaries clearly and politely and live your life with integrity.

Many people live their lives in ways that would be terrible for you. Learning about their ways, trying to change them or being outraged by them is not useful in any way. Safe sex is a very personal thing, in the sense that it depends on you and you alone. You are in control, but of course you are only in control when it comes to your own body.

By the way, PReP doesn't prohibit or make impossible the transmission of HIV. It only provides an extra layer of protection. If people at high risk are using it as yet another precaution to remain negative, I think it is a wonderful tool. If they use it as leverage in the negotiation to have unsafe sex, that is just as inefficacious as relying in men's word when they say they are negative... "Really... you can trust me. Like, totally negative".

Educate yourself, make your own mind, stick with your choice, enjoy a fulfilling and responsible sexual life.

I see nothing wrong with your post, Calrichmond. You can certainly post about the subjects that interest you and inquire about them.

... when they say they are negative... "Really... you can trust me. Like, totally negative".

I don't trust anyone on their word about status. I don't even ask the question. I assume everyone is positive and act accordingly.

By the way one can be negative at one point in time (t), taking into consideration the window period. Which leads to the question how often do you get tested?

Several clients and escorts from this Board admitted to be taking Truvada. It would be interesting to get their point of view and their experience on the subject.

they usually go quiet...

To my knowledge, no escort has openly said on here: "Yes, I BB and I'm proud of it".

Well said, Marylanderr! Frankly, clients and escorts who admit to barebacking would get flamed on this forum. It would be interesting to find out how escorts feel about Truveda and if they feel safe barebacking with clients. I think we are on the verge of change with new advances in HIV prevention.

I was aware of Michael Lucas's change; ...cancelled my subscription to his website of vids. Also cancelled my subscription to Antonio Biaggi's and Austin Wilde's. All three sites now have more BB than I care to view; I'm definitely a proponent of safer sexual practices. Far too many men and a few women who I know either are HIV+ or are suffering to date, or have died.

Your last query is a good one; I would like to think that BBacking is not being encouraged in spite of its being on an increase in certain circles!

I wonder if escorts who indicate they practice safe sex "sometimes" or "never" on rentboy never have their reviews posted here. I have never seen a review of a barebacking experience between a client and escort. I do remember on HooBoy there were several positive reviews of condomless experiences.

Barebacking is on the rise given new prevention techniques and better HIV medications. I think we need to come to the realization that all HIV prevention techniques will not necessarily include condoms in the future.

Frankly, raw sex just feels better. Now that we have drugs to prevent the spread of HIV, isn't it time to reevaluate safe sex techniques? I hope one day to be able to have unprotected sex again. I feel sorry for the younger generation that never experienced raw anal sex.

I am just checking that my post clearly showed my point of view on the subject, because when I see me quoted out of context it almost feels as if my point is exactly the opposite to the point I was trying to make, so let me be as clear as possible.

I agree with you, Steven. What other people say about their status, when they say they have been negative or undetectable for years, or that they are taking truvada or holy water for that matter is not important or useful when making decisions about safer sex. Not necessarily because people lie, but because at any given time it's virtually impossible to know with certainty whether a sexually active person is negative.

One should always assume one's partner(s) is (are) positive, newly converted and highly contagious and act accordingly.

Soon we will see the end of condoms as the only HIV prevention technique.

Condoms are one of the many prevention techniques.

Even if one day we find a cure for HIV/AIDS, I doubt we'll see the end of condoms.

Quite right. People forget (or never knew) that condoms were invented to stem the spread of syphilis. It's still with us. Condoms weren't used for birth control until the 20th century, I think, and uwanted pregnancy is still with us too. Condoms won't be going anywhere, but they're still not used often enough.

I had a Truvada conversation with a prominent escort yesterday. His doctor put him on it because of his line of work. He takes the drug and uses condoms. I can't comment as doctor, but as a HIV Counselor for over 20 years, I think the escort is crazy to take the drug regularly. I have watched the effect of these drugs from AZT on. The toxicity and side effects that are discovered later on are frightening. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for drug therapy if you are HIV+, but to take a drug when you're neg on a regular basis doesn't make sense to me (I certainly understand and endorse Truvada use on an incident by incident basis). Condoms and safer sex have served us well over the years and I think it is still the best way to go.

You might find what you're looking for at venues like Treasure Island Media and BarebackRealTime whose purpose is to promote and glorify bareback sex.

Good luck!
