Hey guys,

I have a friend of mine trying to get back into the mix, but he is in a very slow place. His home for the foreseeable future is Little Rock, AR and there are very few based there. I found 2 pro ads on adam, and men4rent had 3 but only listed little rock as travel cities. Memphis TN is about 2hrs, and in my scanning there, not much more either. I also recall hearing something risky about TN, but not sure. Other than small population of Little Rock, is there a risk of being based there or the other? Any feedback would be great.

Jake

About the TN thingy.....3 former Nashville-based escorts informed me about the law enforcement harrassment that occurred in that area. It was a concern around Nashville; never heard about problems elsewhere in the state, and I have no idea if Nashville remains vulnerable to this risk. I have not hired anyone from that area in a very long time.

I can't really vouch on that rumor with Nashville. But, I do know that the times I've gone there recently, only out-of-towners actually hire. I never got anything local there.

Don't know about Little Rock, but whenever I went to Branson, MO...I'd often visit little towns in Arkansas to see clients who were starved for activity. However, I wasn't near Little Rock, so never went. I don't think it'd really be any risk though. Sure it's not any more risky than Vegas, Miami or Atlanta...All pretty risky IMO. Assuming you can dodge the lunatic drivers on the way to your outcall.

Hi Jake,

I can’t really offer an escort’s perspective on Little Rock, but I can offer a client’s perspective. I’ve lived in the Little Rock area for the past nine years (having moved here from the Raleigh area, actually), and in my experience escorts in this area have tended to fall into four categories:

1) The local non-professionals. These tend to be very young college-age kids who suddenly decide to do this for a couple of months before disappearing. They tend not to advertise on any of the conventional sites (e.g., Rentboy, M4RN, Rentmen, etc.), but can be found if one looks hard enough on Adam4Adam and riskier sites such as Craigslist and Backpage/Boyscort. They tend to be in a financially vulnerable state, and their rates tend to be very low. They can be extremely hot, but they can also be very unreliable.

2) The local professionals. When I arrived here years ago, there seemed to be many more of these than there are today. I don’t know why, but I doubt law enforcement is the reason. It’s particularly odd because, in the last decade, Little Rock and its surrounding areas have grown quite a bit, there is more of a cultural and nightlife scene, etc. Yet, this is an almost non-existent group of escorts here today. When they were here, they tended to advertise on M4RN and Hourboy. Their rates tended to be a bit higher than the non professionals, but they were still reasonable.

3) The regular travelling professionals. These are full-time escorts who travel somewhat regularly to this area, often times from nearby states. Strippermar from Alabama probably makes the trip (by way of Memphis) several times a year, and there are some folks from the Dallas area who do so, as well. (Jason Sparks’ gang makes it through here maybe once or twice a year, and I include them in this category not because they are necessarily “professional” but because escorting is their profession and they travel.) I strongly suspect, especially in regard to Strippermar and the Dallas cohort, that they have regular clients who draw them back to this area. They tend to know the area and price themselves accordingly.

4) The random travelling professional. These are full-time escorts who find themselves in Arkansas probably only because it lies somewhere on the way to their next big market, whether that is New Orleans or Dallas, etc. From my observation, too many of these price themselves out of this market. I know travelling can be expensive for escorts who have to cover increasingly higher travel costs and also make a profit, but I suspect some of them must think that we’re desperate and will pay anything for a good time. One can be both desperate and savvy at the same time! NYC prices don’t work down here because we’re not NYC. So when the occasional hot escort travels through and advertizes $300 per hour, I just pass.

I know nothing about your friend, but it does seem to me that what this area lacks is category #2: local professionals who are reliable hires and who do not price themselves out of the possibility of becoming regular hires.

I know there are folks on this site who believe that any escort who advertizes for less than $300 is probably unreliable or unprofessional. And, in my years of hiring, I have certainly had some wonderful experiences with escorts who charge such rates. But overall, I have found very little correlation between cost and experience, for some of the hottest encounters I have ever had have also been for as low $150 per hour and some of the most disappointing have been for twice that rate.

There is another poster on this site who lives in this area, and I’ve sent him a message to see if he wants to chime in with his perspective.

Well, as I've unsuccessfully tried to explain most recently and repeatedly, that is the trend in many (most) markets nowadays in 2014. There aren't as many guys on the conventional sites (m4r, RB), simply because they aren't bringing in as much traffic anymore. Or, there's double the amount "a few years ago", so there's more to choose from. In my local area, all the clients I've seen in the past 2 weeks, have NOT been from any of the conventional sites.

Why aren't the sites bringing in as much traffic? I think the reason is a combination of the fall of men4rent last year (their not allowing rates, and increased advertising fees), the past and present issues of Washington/minimum wage increase/health insurance (a lot of clients have businesses, and many are taking tax hits also), and consistently high gas prices. In addition, if Little Rock is a big teaching town, I used to know clients who worked in colleges/teaching...but I rarely get them anymore. As 1 told me, "the school sector is 2 years behind the rest of the economy". So since he took a paycut, he hasn't come to see me lately. For guys in these smaller markets aren't seeing what they used to see, and either move or the return on investment declines.
