Starting a new thread since the other one started to devolve into something else.

So did the experiment I said I would try. I used the wording that the original poster said he did on his Grindr profile:

"I'm a very giving person. N$A."

I posted a new profile. Location: East Hampton.

Here are the completely unscientific results:

In the first 48 hours, I received around 55 responses.

NOT a single one realized that the ad was seeking to pay money for sex. Most assumed I was a top (giving) looking for sex. A few thought I was seeking donations for sex. And that was about it. The age range was 18 to 72 responding. My response to most was "what do you think I am looking for?"

Perhaps it's the area, but I'd consider my Grindr experiment to be a total failure. When I'm back in the city I'll see if the response is any better.

OK, I admit that I'm slow, but I'm confused. You posted on Grinder with a somewhat cryptic message and got 55 responses in two days? And that's a failure? Heck, after you weed out the flakes wouldn't you stand a good chance of hooking up with someone from those 55 for free?

I think you need to include more. I’m not familiar with Grindr, but I have seen posts on CL similar to:

“Older top for hot younger bottom. I'm a very giving person. N$A.”

Obvious to most that read it but not likely to be flagged for violation.

usually an older or out of shape guy just puts his pic in the profile and the young buff stud will approach him and be open for an escort situation. or the older guy simply messages the young stud and asks if he is open to a genrous older man. it takes weeks to do a real experiment that is worthwhile.......

You're not the only one, I'm confused too.

How many of those 55 responses came from guys you would have considered paying to have sex with any of them? Did you get laid for free at all? If yes, how old he was...

I refer you to the thread "Grindr & Escorts" and perhaps it will make more sense to you. If you weren't following that thread, I suppose you wouldn't understand what the experiment was.

I used to be on Grindr. But most of the people I saw on there were young and beautiful. Two of the very few responses I did get were from guys escorting on there. But those were the only two escorts I ever saw on there. I soon deleted Grindr because I realized that no one on there was looking for my type. According to an acquaintance of mine, I only appeal to a very select few. I'm a niche market. If I could get this kind of response on any of the apps, I probably would have stopped hiring years ago.
