I think that gay men would react very similarly to this experiment. Looks initially, but while some would make an excuse for a poor personality, and ultimately choose looks over substance, I think by and large, most men would not want to date someone with Lindsay's personality. Interesting video...

Looks are what get attention at first, personality, though is what engages you... and in my experience, when someone has a winning personality, you tend to put looks into perspective.

I notice that they chose guys who would rarely come across, let alone date, a girl at that level. In that situation, yeah, the girl can walk all over the guy and he'll still be interested.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if the guys were alpha types who had already dated similar girls. Those guys are less awed and so are generally willing to take less sh**.

Mens' brains have evolved to put looks front and center to maximize the number and prospects of their offspring. The fact that birth control is easily available and that male-male sex can't produce children doesn't change that.

Excellent point. I noticed that also, and found it a bit humorous.

Although a man's brain has evolved to pick beauty, a woman's brain has evolved to pick power and wealth to assure her offsring the best chance of survival, so even if the guy does not seem to be in her "league" if he is an internet zillionaire he'll have no lack of beautiful, hot women falling all over themselves to be with him. :)

Anyone can replicate this experiment by putting up a profile online. You know those guys who keep writing you over and over, but in whom you have absolutely zero interest? Agree to meet one of them. You'll end up with a desperate guy sitting across from you, as shown in the video.

What does yinz mean?

Yinz is you'all (you plural) in Pittsburghese dialect.

Back to the subject, I think guys who keep up with her just want to score, after that they realized she's too expensive to date and move on.

Yep. As you say, the factors you're referring to, ie. a man's status, power, etc, are the main factors that determine what league the man is in. Looks are secondary.

My comment about the guys in the video wasn't about their looks. In fact, some of their faces were blacked out. I made the judgment based on their body language, which betrayed extreme nervousness. It was the kind of body language you'd see if in a job candidate sitting down for a once in a lifetime interview for a dream job. A wealthy or powerful guy would have been much more relaxed.
