"He accepted the images might not put off hard-core smokers but said he hoped they would stop people starting smoking."

I won't hold my breath!

We all make typos now and then, dummy. But few of us -- and certainly not yours truly -- get caught making stupid mistakes in the very same posts in which we boast about our command of English and denigrate the verbal skills of anyone who disagrees with us. I would have to say that your friend Franco ("I'm so superior to the average streewalker") De Santis is the leader when it comes to that.

In another recent thread you said that you are "not consistent" in the views you express here. That's one way of putting it. Another way is to say that you love to criticize other people for the very same type of behavior that you indulge in. I really don't think a promiscuous gay man like yourself should be complaining that cigarette smokers pose a threat to public health. When you stop doing the things that you enjoy that pose a threat to public health, let us know.

RE: U smoke in non-smokers' faces, yet you call us

But more to the point, your last years are likely to

>be spent on public-assisted medical treatment paid for by

>who?--you guessed it--TAX-PAYERS.

Flower,

I'm curious. Based on your statement above: Do you believe that there should be no publically-assisted medical treatment for those people with illnesses caused by poor decisions made in the past? Even if these people cannot work and pay for insurance due to this illness? Smoking-induced lung cancer is only one such illness. AIDS is another.

Yes, I can think of one more disgusting habit than cigarette smoking.

That habit is one of taking a perfectly sound complaint (second hand cigarette smoke) and making the enourmous leap that you somehow are more enlightened than other people. Such self righteousness makes me think of Anita Bryant, Pat Robertson, and my aunt Bessie. She was always quite trim, proper, and never smoked. She loved to sit in her armchair at family gatherings and gather her little lips into kind of a puckered frown - not much met Bessie's standards by the way.

I for one would rather have ten smokers exhale directly in my face within an enclosed broom closet rather than sit next to Bessie (or Flower, or Anita, or Pat). I dislike vile little people who need to carry on like this to give some importance to what must be a rather lonely existense.

Todays New York Post has an article regarding a survey

http://www.nypost.com/commentary/5204.htm

It appears that the flowers of the world are in a minority even with Republican non smokers. (Thank God !!)

Due to the horrid experience this poster encountered in New York City

it seems unlikely we will see him soon. As one of the South of The Border posters it also seems unlikely we will see him in Rio since the escorts there have not had the benefit of his superior preaching and most still smoke. Two other things to be thankful for today. The last is that Bessie is no longer here - she died of sheer loneliness

while her two sisters, Erma and Peg (heavy drinking and cigarette smoking sisters who were both WW1 army nurses) lived to be over 100!! Hmmmmmmmm.

I am neither choosing sides nor attempting to stifle the discussion,, but only suggesting that we move it to what I think would be a more appropriate section of the forum.

Why is that a more appropriate forum, hoover? Have you looked at the stated purpose for the lounge? To exchange ideas. Nobody reads the politcs forum because about 3 people have hijacked it as the space to engage in bitter personal battles. Yet 1300 views of this thread have taken place in the lounge, and you don't find this the appropriate place for it. So tell us why.

>Why is that a more appropriate forum, hoover?

The many references to civil rights, anti-smoking laws, taxpapers, taxpayer-assisted healthcare, and legislation in the previous posts all suggest to me that this has turned into a political discussion more suitable for the Politics forum than the Lounge.

Oh. Okay. next question (and you know I ask it with love): What difference does it make to you whether the posts are in the best forum or not?

RE: Answer to tough quiz

Flower,

Blowing cigarette smoke in someone's face is very rude and disgusting. Noone has ever done that to me. You must meet some real jerks.
