A combat systems instructor for the Navy was discharged for violating the "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" policy after he appeared on the Bravo dating show "Boy Meets Boy." "I was ready for it," says Michael Jason Tiner of San Diego, who was on the show as "Jason." Viewers might have assumed Tiner was part of the show's little twist - some contestants are heterosexual - but when he was eliminated, it was revealed that he is gay. Tiner had already spoken to his commanding officer by that time. He received an honorable discharge. In an interesting aside, Tiner says all the contestants were required to meet with a psychiatrist, in part so they wouldn't "go postal" on the straight men in the group when their presence was revealed.
