Can't find any information on rates. What am I missing?

B

I agree. If a site can't be bothered to put up rates then I can't be bothered to call. I'm not wasting my time only to find out that it's some ridiculous fee. Shame too, there is someone there who interests me. And for that matter, Tristan's own web domain isn't working.

Along these lines, I wonder why professional escorts pay good money to advertise on rentboy.com and rentmen.com and other sites, then, at the same time, fail to show their asking price.

I suspect there are many, like me, who see the “ask me” on the ad then go to the next ad.

It is a lot of “little things” that cause professional escorts to lose clients. This “ask me” thing could be one thing that can be avoided.

Other unfriendly comments found in many professional escort ads such as “no texting” “no emails” or “same day appointments only” are other comments contained in many ads that cause clients to select other escorts.

The current trend shows that professional escorts are losing clients to non professional guys who advertise on Craig’s List and Back Page. In view of that fact, it seems that professional escorts should make it easier for clients to contact them by including the price and removing unfriendly caveats.

imrthr - I agree 100% but then there are those who also demand MY photo (hey, are you paying me or me paying you???), MY stats etc... another pass.

There is also the issue that sending an e-mail means through Rentboy (which is not so reputable in delivering or communicating) and Rentmen (much better).

Personally I text to see if escort is available. I also briefly describe myself, my interest in contacting him and suggest we talk by phone. If he answers (via text, of course) then we set up a time for the conversation and hopefully move on to confirm a date.

Oh, yes. I had forgotten about a couple of requests for my photo and stats. During another negotiation, I was asked for a credit card number to secure the appointment (which I refused) and on two different occasions, I was turned down by the escort because of my race (Caucasian). These are professional escorts advertising on rentboy, rentmen etc.

I cannot help but wonder if non professional escorts from Craigs List or Back Page would behave similarly.

As I previously wrote, times are a changing.

Are you sure about this? When I see Backpage ads ( I see very few guys listed in the cities I look at on Craig's List- and most of the guys I do see there I wouldn't be interested in), they seem to be predominantly thuggish type Black guys (with lots of misspellings in their ads) who I'm really not interested in ( assuming I could hire), a large majority seem to be faceless, many have that picture/or post in the ad to not discuss sexual things with them, a large proportion of tops which wouldn't interest me, a large number don't seem to be able to do incalls, a large number who do show face pictures don't seem to be as handsome or in as good shape as the 'professional' guys, many advertise as being straight, and most don't have any reviews, so it would be easy for them to be scams. Oh and from what I've seen many of them are just as expensive as the 'professionals'. On top of that where I live now- there are usually no more than 4, if that many, advertising per day whereas Rentboy usually has at least 18 to 20 and M4RN 20. As a result I think in my 5 years of living in my current city, I don't think I have hired more than 5 guys off of Backpage and most likely less.

As for Grindr, I haven't had it for years. Being a chubby old guy, no one was really interested in a non-paid meeting. And I think the two guys I saw on there that were professionals were tops so not of interest to me.

While what you wrote about the poor spelling of the non professional escorts is often true, at least most of those guys use their own photos. In other words, what you see is what you get, most of the time.

Many of the “handsome” guys found on professional sites (rentboy, rentmen etc) have fake or “borrowed” photos and/or use photos that are quite old and do not show the escort as he is currently.

I am not concerned about the spelling errors of escorts but I am concerned about being misled by fake photos.

As to the quantity of non professional escorts available, it depends on the city where you are. In some small cities, you will have fewer escorts advertise, non professional and professional.

Although some non professionals ask a price close to what is found on the professional escort sites, most do not.

The point I tried to make is that there is an increased trend for clients to seek non professional escorts over the professional escort.

+1...There is no denying the trend is there. More and more of my friends, most younger than I by ten years or so, but regardless, they are reporting to me of great success using CL, BP, and Grindr. Most have started using these alternative methods after becoming frustrated, and disillusioned with the traditional methods of hiring. Is it an end all answer to everything, of course not, but it is a viable option.

Thank you for your input. Rates vary for each model. My own web domain is no longer available, as I am am "generally" out of the business for myself. However, I do have a few projects I have taken on ( The Agency is one of them) Suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated. :~)
