I just returned from a long weekend in Montreal and had the best time. The parade was wonderful and the party along St. Catherine afterwards was amazing. Thousands of gorgeous shirtless men! The weather was hot and steamy. Everyone was in a great festive mood. The newspaper said there were 200,000 at the parade but it seemed like a million to me. All of the clubs and restaurants were packed and full of fun.

I'm fortunate to have a number of Canadian friends who always go out of their way to show me a good time. The people in Montreal are incredibly nice, both gay and straight.

Everyone should put Montreal on the top of their travel list. It gets better with each visit I make. There's lots to do besides the clubs too. The Chinese Garden at the Botanical Gardens near the Olympic Stadium is worth a trip in itself.

Terrific restaurants too. I drove through Customs with the top button of my shorts open. When asked if I had anything to declare I told the woman in the booth "5 extra pounds" she laughed and waved me through.

My friend and I were checking our map in the Metro station when, out of the blue, a guy offered that one of the stations in the Old Town is underconstruction and to avoid it. I can't imagine that happening in many other cities.

Yes, Pride was terrific. 2006 should be even better with both Pride and the Gay Games.
