What about oral sex without a condom? Safe / Unsafe?

Do you know anybody who got it that way? I think it's not 100% safe, but at least it's 99% safe, while anal sex without condom is more risky.

Do you think he got it because giving or receiving head? If that was the case I would be infected and I'm still negative because I fuck or get fucked with condoms.

How did Rod got it? I don't know but I'm very sure it wasn't because of oral sex (that's my "educated guess"...)

Have you considered volunteering your time and energy?

"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart."

"The heart of a volunteer is not measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others."

I'm on the Hiv Vaccination program.

Does it really make a difference ? Many would not think so....

In the sense that the main point is that he IS infected, no.

But I would like to know if he was infected while shooting porn (meaning that the testing was inadequate) or through a personal relationship. The female porn star with whom he is involved is also HIV+.

It's starting to sound like the latter case ( http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/secon-porn-actor-tests-positive-hiv-article-1.1445542 ).

(And NONE of these remarks mean that I condone bareback porn.)

while i think most of this board (including ME) is an advocate for and a practicer of safe sex I feel that the earliest posts in this thread lacked compassion and sympathy for the sick. It is almost as if yall see this poor guy as a criminal or something. The guy is sick and , in my opinion, deserves our best thoughts and wishes at this time. that's all. http://www.rentboy.com/magicmikey

It's preventable, let's use condoms while having anal sex.

Exactly....Thank you Mikey for putting the focus back on Rod and what he is going through. I would encourage others to read the post by sfguy in this thread. He makes some excellent points.

Most things that we visit the doctor for and seek treatment for are preventable. Singling out HIV infection for moral opprobrium is what setback the gay community and the AIDS research in the 1980s. Let's not continue that nonsense, especially if your proposed solution is safe sex rather than total abstinence. I know everyone likes to pretend that people who have HIV must have been barebacking because it makes us feel safer about having safe sex. And sure, most gay men who have HIV did contract it from barebacking. But the reality is that condoms are not 100% effective and yes, sometimes even men who use condoms every single time still end up with HIV, which could have been prevented by not having sex at all.

I lived in Indianapolis during the Ryan White saga, so I'm well aware that bareback sex is not the only way to contract HIV. And a good friend (nurse) had to be tested for months after getting stuck by a needle while treating an HIV patient. While barebacking is the most frequent form of transmission and it is easy to jump to that assumption when we learn someone is positive, it isn't fair to conclude so every time.

I agree with you in most cases Hiv is transmitted by unprotected anal or vaginal sex. We all assume that guys who bb also give head without a condom, and we'll never know exactly if they got it for anal sex or oral sex, but I must admit I never gave or received oral sex with a condom in my whole life. Condoms are not 100% safe but I bet they are 99% safe, I had a poz bf for almost 1 year, I was only a top with him, we always used condoms and I'm still negative.

Nurses, Doctors, paramedics and others are more likely to get infected because of handling needles, etc. I've never needed a blood transfusion and I never gave anybody an injection.

Btw, answering other question from previous postings I'm on trial for Hiv research at the NIH.
