While I think DC does have quality if you want escorts in the 30-50 age range, you are correct that DC does seem to be lacking a bit in the 20-30 age range. I'm not sure why though?

 

DC seems to have a relatively robust population of younger gay men for a metro area of its size, but seems to lack on the escort front. Granted, DC will never be able to compete with the likes of NYC, LA, MIA/FLL or San Fran. But even compared to markets like Chicago or Boston, DC seems to lack younger escorts. Now, for older escorts, I think DC is quite competitive and has lots to offer!

I think it's because it's a small community where status, image, name, job, etc. matter among young gay men almost as much as your looks. Maybe that's why a lot of younger men don't escort. "Small town, big hell"

Why ask for a face pic? Any particular reason, or is that just a general warning? I usually DO ask for face pics if the ad doesn't include one ... it's a good idea, just in general.
