San Diego/Oceanside Military Guys?

OK, since there's not much new here lately, I've always been curious about all the "stories" about finding bi-curious/closeted military guys in San Diego and Oceanside (Dirk Yates, anyone?).

 

I'm not talking about escorts, but military guys who hang in bars, or cruise in parks, etc. Is there any truth here? If so, what's the story? Where does it all happen? }(

Ncm years ago there was an element of truth about this bi and gay for inexpensive pay military in Oceanside. What was once called Hill Street just north of Mission was where the little action could be found. At the time it center around the The Star, was an adult theater, and just south of Mission on the "green." .

 

Then came an arrest of a so-called porn producer and that took down many military careers. Since then that little action I noted above has disappeared . And though I no longer live in SoCal I only moved recently so I doubt anything has changed.

Twenty-Nine Palms

 

For many years I vacationed in Palm Springs. Not far outside town is the Marine "survival" base at Twenty Nine Palms. Marines on R&R from the base were a fixture in town. Some of them found their way to the gay hotels, especially those that had a bar attached (or that sold liquor or that had grounds that could be cruised). I picked-up many a Marine in Palm Springs, and have fond memories. I don't think I ever met a Marine that was a top. I travel, mostly, to Mexico these days . . . and the soldiers there are ready, willing, and able!

Did the marines charge? Were they sort of "temporary escorts", or were they just guys you picked up. Same question for the mexicans...

Because in various European countries, where military service is compulsory for a few years, all sorts of young guys can be rented. Just out of curiosity, if that is the case for our Americans, what do they charge? And do they do everything?
