He does play an out, obviously gay man in this show. I did see him in The Tempermentals and that began to explore his range a bit.

I dithered about seeing this in New York. For one, I don't like the Barrow Street Theater. It's too much like a school gymnasium, which it probably once was. Second, I am not a big fan of Barbra Streisand, and I understand the humor revolves around her. But, I do like Michael Urie. By the time I decided to see the show, Urie was no longer the cast.

But, as Cash4Trash points out, it will play in Los Angeles for a few days this summer, with Urie back in the show. So I will see it there. I don't know if $55 is a savings over the Barrow prices, but my seat is not bad.

Yes, he's a one note actor. Did you see him on that awful sitcom that failed a couple years back? he has no range. He plays effeminate gay queen in everything he does. Maybe because he isn't acting. Just a thought.

#1) Michael Urie is a well trained actor who has been cast in, and probably typed into stereotypical gay roles. He's a professional and acts as a job - something he needs to pay the rent.

#2) He's currently not playing an "effeminate gay queen" on The Good Wife if you're paying attention.

#3) As someone who was once a theater professional and has been living in and seeing shows in NY (Hedwig, Here Lies Love and The Few, all this week) Michael Urie is giving one of the

best, most detailed performances I have seen on a NY stage.

I agree. I try to avoid these phrases and wish others would. Occasionally one slips, but the effort must still be made. This message board is for all men who hire escorts, and I guess, their friends. So why denigrate any of them?
