Can anyone add to this list?

2) ridicule (general)

3) pointing out a topic has already been covered already

in some older thread

4) making a sadistic joke out of serious concerns

5) bullying (general)

6) implying personal ugliness

7) implying stupidity

8) "outing" or almost-outing

9) encouraging mob attacks if a favorite escort

was criticized

10) parodying the question (this one is certain to be)

I am sure that there are more BC, I like #7. I personally don't think that adding more categories would help. This is a fairly complete list. Civility or lack thereof will always be the same on the forum. I don't see it changing. I have had more than my share of uncivil outbursts, yes guilty as charged. The forum is no different than society as a whole, and is I believe, a fair representation of a cross-section of that society.

Like with many things, sometimes you have to take the good with the bad.....

Forgive me if I slightly expand your topic to "how do forum fights get started."

16) Making a poorly thought out, but well intentioned, comment that is interpreted wrongly

18) Responding to a tongue-in-cheek or sarcastic comment as if it is serious

19) complaining about someone's perceived poor etiquette or apparent rudeness

I think corndog hit the nail on the head here. Most of the spats I've seen on these boards involve misinterpretations falling into the 3 categories he laid out. That's one of the problems with written messages, it's difficult to convey subtle things that we take for granted in face to face conversations.

8) "outing" or almost-outing

How can an anonymous person be outed? The only people who aren't anonymous here are typically escorts and I assume they're already out.

There have been occasions in the past, I have been told from "long" standing members, where one member will become embattled in a disagreement and will find the true identity of another member and then out that member on the forum. Don't send hate mail, this is only what was told to me at dinner the other night from a member that has been around since Hooboy. I have heard of this happening several times.
