....get and hold the attention of a repair person, at work?

For the first time in about a zillion years, we get a repair person in here who is actually pretty danged cute and past 40. Which is great.

He's also just about my height (short), which is great.

Unfortunately the staff person who is the "liaison" to the repair company is hanging out in the work area (my desk) behaving like the oversized human Muppet that he is, like always.

Now, at this point the situation becomes hypothetical because

a) MuppetMan will probably go cross-eyed with confusion if he sees me flirting even mildly with a man.

b) HRG (Hot Repair Guy) is married (wearing a wedding ring, anyway, which is a clear message even if he's not married.)

c) It's 4:30 in the afternoon and HRG has, oddly, very bloodshot eyes. Which to me is not a good sign.

So, 29-inch waistline or no 29-inch waistline, I'm not taking any chances on this little number.

But let's just SAY none of these barriers are there. How would you engage HRG, at work?

I think it would depend if there was any eye contact or indication that HRG was interested or in the mood for a little flirting. When I was at work, I would always let them make the first move, I had to be careful, but one of my opening lines would be a reference to West Hollywood in some form, depending on the conversation. That usually would be followed by interest from the other person, if in fact they were so inclined. It is a delicate dance one has to go through.

I'd ask casually which area/suburb he lives, then follow up how far (or near) he had to travel to get to my place. Ask him if he follows any sport and what team(s) he follows. Then I'd say something like "those players really know how to keep themselves fit" and make a comment of his physique, such as "you probably don't need to go to a gym with the type of work you do" (only works if they are really fit and hot). If they have a tatt that is visible I'd ask about that and ask if he has more and if he is planning on getting more.

I live in a nice apartment in Bondi Beach back in Australia and tradies (as we call them) usually make a comment about how nice my apartment is. Then they'd ask if I have a family and I tell them no I'm a single guy and loving it and play casually with both men and women. The straight ones will laugh at what I've said and end the conversation there and then. But other guys are more than happy to continue with the conversation.

I tend not to flirt at work due to sexual harassment concerns.
