"It Gets Better" Isn't Working Well Enough

Another teen kills himself despite the increased consciousness of bullying and the attempts to tell gay teens that "it gets better." They might be wondering when, and too many of them are not waiting around to find out. If the level of suicide among gay teens is high in this country, what must it be around the world? I think we need more than a media campaign, good as it may be. We need strong legislation, and school officials who do not punish bullies need to be jailed.

And he was one of the attractive boys with supportive parents. This represents a best case scenario, and still it ended in horror. I'm not sure what the answer is, or if there really is one. Compared to when I was in high school, homosexuality is practically mainstream.
