I have visited a number of bathhouses and sex clubs in NYC, LA and SF during the last 2 years, but have decided it is time to play it much more safe as far as sex is concerned. I guess I have read way too much about STD's being on the rise in these dens of iniquity and I am starting to take it to heart. (I always use condoms in my sexual forays and will do so in the future.) I guess I have been lucky so far because I have never caught an STD. I don't like the bar scene and am not interested in a long term relationship at this point in my life-- so my options as far as raw sex go seem to be solo or hire an escort. (I have hooked up with a few great masseurs but they usually don't go as far as I want during a session, and for the cost of their services, I don't blame them. I have also hook up with a few masseurs that have gone way above and beyond the call of duty!) I am just curious if any of you escort fans have ever pick up an STD from an escort while playing it safe? I don't mind paying the going escort rates, but I really do become concerned that, with all the exposure these guys have to other men, it would put me at much greater risk for developing some type of STD. Am I just being paranoid or practical?

Somewhat "Paranoid" regarding being at a greater risk with escorts, but "practical" in continuing your safe sex practices regardless with whom you're having sex.

I think you're lucky you didn't catch anything at any bathhouses or sex clubs over the years. I've never been to such dens of iniquity, but from what I've heard from friends and acquaintances, there's ALOT of unsafe behavior going on there these days.

I've not had an STDs in my nearly 12 year career as an escort and

most professional escorts that I know get tested regularly and IF they do contract something, don't work until it's cleared up. Honestly though, I've heard about more STDs being contracted by my non-escort friends who've hooked up at the bathhouse, online or the weekend trick from the disco.

Have fun!

RE: Escorts & S...

Thanks for the reply, Jeff. I always play safe and will continue to do so. I was very careful at the Bathhouses and Sex Clubs and well aware of all the unsafe behavior that went on because I frequently had to fend it off. I must admit there is something so damn hot about anonymous sex with no strings attached. I get a woody just thinking about it. I was assuming that escorts were much more cautious about STD's than the average guy because of the impact it could have on their business, and appreciate the fact that, at least from your experience, that has been the case. I think it is amazing you have not caught anything during your 12 years in the business! Congratulations.

I decided to call it quits at the Bathouses/Sex Clubs a few weeks ago after I was at an establishment in NYC and was amazed at the amount of unsafe sex that was going on. I actually had an unexpected experience and was almost caught with my pants down by a guy who was a little to high and aggresive. In any event, I will continue to play safe and keep up with the testing.

Amp? What AMP?

Jeff gave you the complete and correct answer.

I just want to add for everyone else, for anyone who frequents public sex places, the resistent staph infection that is being passed around only requires skin contact and moisture. A straight man can get it a gym simply from not using "flip flops" in a shower or steam room and anyone could contact it at a sex club/bathhouse environment even if they did not have sex with anyone present.

This does not mean you should not shower at your gym. You could also contact such a bacterium from using cardio equipment that was not wiped down.

You should work out with a towel, you should spray and wipe down equipment, you should use footwear and you should be tested. It is a simple blood test and the treatment is very simple. If caught early, even the resistent strains are treatable unless the person has a compromised immune system or is otherwise already resistent to certain antibiotics.

This is another reason to not allow doctors to treat people with colds (which do not respond to antibiotics) or other such illness with unnecessary antibiotics and to not use them in livestock and other animals.
