I've only hired an escort twice before, both a long time ago. I found one on gay.com and was chatting with him, then we started IMing on AOL. At one point I asked him how long he'd been escorting and he got kind of huffy and said, "I never discuss those matters with anyone." I said I didn't mean to pry, it just seemed like something some escorts wouldn't mind answering. Then he replied "No."

 

He also wanted to see my pic, and then wanted to know how old it was and how old I am.

 

The vibe seemed pretty weird to me. So I decided not pursue that guy. I'm visiting Columbus on business and booked appts. with two guys well-reviewed on this site.

 

Anyway, was it inaapropriate to ask how long the guy had been escorting?

I wouldn't think it wierd, but I'm pretty open about everything.

Chances are it was becuase you were chatting in a chat room, if the same question was possed in private, he might be more open to answering.

But because he asked for your pic and age, I'd take a pass.

Actually we were not in a chat room at that point, we were instant messaging on AOL.

Yeah. Either that or maybe he had only been doing it for a very short time and didn't want to admit to being very inexperienced. Not good for business. Maybe you were the first fish he hooked.

Or a third possibility exists. More experienced escorts are not always prized for their experience and the greater abilities that ought to instill into them. They might be called names a few times too often having to do with their looseness, their lack of ability to find another job or their age. While most of the posters on these forums would be too sophisticated to not see through those three objections, with many people he would have just queered the deal and lost the sale by answering honestly. So you may have made him feel like he was being cornered into a double bind that way.

 

BTW, as I have mentioned here before, I personally have been escorting for around 15 - 17 years, off and on since 1973. Or was it 1975? I don't have a great sense of time. Timing onstage, yes. Months and years, no.
