Apologies if this is too off-topic, but...

I use Viagra sometimes to spice up the old sex life, but I'm tired of paying those super high prices on the Internet.

Does anybody know of a doctor in San Francisco or the Bay Area who is pretty flexible in writing Viagra prescriptions?

I'm willing to go in for a consultation, but I don't want to have to go through some long battery of tests, a physical, or an inquisition about erectile dysfunction before they'll write a prescription.

Any recommendations?

Thanks!

RE: Doctors in San Francisco that will prescribe Viagra...

Hey HTB, I'm nowhere near CA, but even in the conservative Midwest, I had no problem getting an Rx for Viagra from a 60-something Doc who I'd never seen before. I simply told him that my sex life was mostly fine, but that occasionally it could be better, and he started writing out the Rx before I even finished the sentence. }( (BTW, there was no physical or any other exam involved; I only saw him for this purpose).

As I recall, my co-pay for 6 tabs was around $12. :* And, it's good for 6 refills within a year.

Ditto for me, at Kaiser in San Francisco. Just told my regular doc that at age 56 I'm finding that I could use a little help when having sex, and he just wrote out the prescription. This is no longer an unusual request, so I don't think you have much to worry about. Just go to your regular doc, who probably already has your other relevant medical history (like any heart/blood pressure problems and what other meds you may be taking). The downside of going to one of those docs who just write prescriptions without asking any questions is that you could get into serious trouble if you have any underlying medical condition or might have a drug interaction that he doesn't determine beforehand.

It took me less than five minutes to get a prescription from my regular doc at Kaiser. Just mentioned I was having some trouble during my regular check up, and next thing I had the prescription in my hand. That was two years ago, and now the renewal is automatic. Doesn't hurt that insurance helps pay for it, either.

This is great, and I believe you are more than entitled to this benefit. But I wonder why Kaiser who is always being sued for not providing needed medicines and medical care for women with breast cancer is so willing to fund Viagara for males so they can continue to have sex, even if that sex is engaged in illegally via prostitution. Just goes to show that it must be run by a bunch of horny, chauvinistic old men. :)

Well, it sounds good that most doctors prescribe it pretty freely. Only thing is, I don't really have a "family doctor." I'm not in an HMO, I always go with PPOs so I'm free to choose who I want, not some primary care physician, so I've never had to pick a doctor to get medical coverage. I'm also the kind not to go to a doctor unless something's wrong with me, then I go to a specialist. All that, combined with me moving around a lot in recent years, means I don't have a rapport with any doctor at all.

So...it would kind of be like me walking into some doctor's office just for the purpose of getting Viagra, and they're probably going to want to treat me like a new patient and do the whole checkup/physical thing, which I don't want to go through.

Hmmm...what to do, what to do...

Thanks for the info, tho

I have not heard of any Doctors requiring tests before giving a prescription for Viagra or even any asking questions about sex. He might ask if you have had any heart, kidney etc problems. I suggest you walk into one of the neighborhood minor medical clinics. Be sure to ask if has any office samples. He probably will give you a hand full. And, in case you don't know, they come in 50mg and 100mg for the SAME PRICE, so you want a prescription for 100s and cut them in half if you dont need the full dose.
