Heading down the South Beach in April. I generally stay at the Delano but some have said to move to the Tides. Any regulars down there with recommendations as to which is better. Should I stick with what I know or try something else? blu

Been to both. Definately stick with the Delano. The other place I like in sobe, but not as nice as Delano is the Raleigh.

Two words. Shore Club. I've stayed at the Delano, Raleigh and Tides, which are all fine. This is the best currently and the staff is as good looking and fuckable as your random Schrager hotel.

Later.

PS. The BF and I will be there in a couple of weeks.

Why do you people insist on going to hotels that actually excel in treating their guests like shit? Handsome staff? Hire a Whore. Great drugs? Do a "Tina" search on AOL. Stay at the Mandarin, use their kick-ass spa, and each time you pass by Tides or Delano, spit on the doorman.

Ya know what tiger. I prefer to stay at hotels where the average age is not the same as Gerald Ford's. Just my preference.

I've stayed at the Delano, and as advertised it was full of beautiful people (guests and staff). Swam in the pool with John Leguizamo (and his wife and kids, unfortunately).

But I will never stay there again, because of a couple very bad experiences with attitude.

First, at the poolside restaurant, I ordered ceviche. The waiter looked down his nose and said in the most condescending tone possible "Sir, do you know what ceviche is?"

Later, at the same meal, I waited 45 minutes for the check, asking several times, and never got it. So I ended up walking away.

At check-out, the meal had made it to my bill, but the waiter had taken it upon himself to add a 20% tip! I had to argue with the front desk for ten minutes to get them to take it off.

Finally, at check-out, there was a Sunday champagne brunch for four people on my bill -- which I did not have. Not only were there only two of us, but we happened to have had Sunday brunch at the News Cafe. The bill for the brunch had my room number on it, but the signature was definitely not mine (just a scribble).

Again, a long argument with lots of attitude -- the staff obviously thinking I was lying. They finally relented when I produced the receipt from the News Cafe lunch -- which I luckily had stuck in my wallet.

Needless to say, I left with a bad taste in my mouth. I'll try the Shore Club next time.
