I just noticed this... so I repeat my recent reply to the "Berlin Sex Club thread" in the "European Escort Forum"... and as I mentioned there please do give us a report as inquiring minds do what to hear all about it... and as I mention below things at Folsom East were probably "tame in comparison"!

 

Steven… I certainly wish I could make the trek to Berlin… as the Germans traditionally have been among the best purveyors of S&M… Something tells me that Folsom East in NYC and even some of the after-events would seem to be quite tame in comparison!

 

At any rate, I am glad that you revived this thread as it shows that you indeed have a wild side to you that I had forgotten about… and especially in light of your comments in the recent thread about Steamworks in Chicago where you seemed to nix the place for some “questionable” goings on… Yet you have been to and have touted the infamous Lab.oratory in Berlin where bare backing is as you said, “more the norm rather than the exception in this paradise lust”.

 

Having personally been to neither I can't make a direct comparison between the two venues, but

as a person who is obsessed with safety and knowing that you only play safely, you most definitely prove my point from the Steamworks thread that one can visit such seemingly “questionable” places and still act in a responsible fashion. It's all about having the discipline to act sensibly and wisely... and especially when faced with and placed in problematic situations as often occurs in life...

 

At any rate, enjoy your time at Folsom Europe and please do report on the festivities!

Steven - as you can appreciate ... 2 great and extraordinary reasons to be in Berlin- YOU and Folsom Europe !!! It has been 4 or 5 years since I was last in Berlin and I must confess that last trip was a fantastic week. Berlin does have one of the BEST leather / S&M scenes in the world!!! I think what surprised/impressed me the most about my trips to Berlin in the late 90's forward was how young the participants at various venues were. Also more than fulfilled by obsessive boot fetish with hundreds of guys in skingear / knee high boot gear! The leather / SM community in Germany was an exceptional mix of late 20somethings through to the full spectrum of 50something daddies. Very welcoming and very stimulating guys, events and venues. I am truly sorry to have missed Folsom in Berlin the last several years but as I suspect most would concur - if you live in a major urban centre - September is always insanely busy with major events. In the days ahead I am attending several screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival and on Sunday Toronto hosts the final 25th Anniversary of Fashion Cares which is being headlined by some extraordinary and exciting talent !!! Not to mention a dizzying fashion extravaganza !!!

Why does everything have to take place in September ???

It would be interesting to get a report on Folsom Europe 2012 from Steven and any others who might have attended... and that includes not only an account on the official festivities, but also a description on the unofficial post event parties, celebrations, and any other revelries.

I was thinking of going to Folsom America in San Francisco, where the street is actually named Folsom. But it might be too wholesome, in which case I would be better off in Berlin.

Reports from my neighbors are there are a heck of a lot of straight gawkers at the Folsom St. Fair these days, and dore alley is smaller, more participatory and more gay.

 

San Francisco has had a number of multi-block-long block parties for a fair while. There was a Haight Street fair a long time before the

first folsom street fair, a lilly street fair, street fairs in the mission (Carneval) and in North Beach. (and most recently a Harrison street

fair for the bear community). And I nearly forgot the Castro Street Fair

 

I've sold out to having a summer music job on sundays so I can't offer any first-hand validation about Folsom vs Dore

Yes... but many of us were not able to make the trek... Consequently, a report would still be of value and as such would provide the forum with some interesting reading.

 

Perhaps some might have missed it, but I did report on Folsom East in the Fetish Forum back in June and we had a lively discussion... after all that is what this forum is all about... like-minded guys being able to discuss issues that in which they are keenly interested. At any rate, from what I have been made to believe Folsom East is a mere shadow of the original Folsom... and something tells me that Folsom Europe might be an even livelier event... but then again I might be wrong about that... but for some reason the grass... I mean the flogging is always more intense on the other side of the fence...

 

No matter what, it still would be appreciated if you would be able to share any experiences... It is indeed "sadistic" that you teased us by starting this thread, and especially since as I recall from your travel schedule you planned to be in Berlin during the event, then never followed through with any details...
