Hey there guys! I wasn't sure where to post this so I am going to post it here. A week or so ago a friend of mine sent me an email saying that with just typing in someones phone number you have the potential of finding out address or if the number is posted up on the internet. I didn't believe this so I tried my very own cell number. Not expecting to find me listed in a search engine I was shocked. Two results popped up. Im not too worried though cause I am discreet about my biz meaning that I do not kiss and tell what I do when Im not at my day job. I thought that though this might be of some interesting info for some of you guys out there that maybe more discreet then myself. Hope y'all are having a good day.

Hugs,

Greg

I tried a few numbers using http://www.google.com.

Unfortunately, it worked. x( What I've deducted is that if you have a published number you can find out who it belongs to.

One of my phone number has been unlisted for several years. In addition, I've not given out that number to anyone whose last name isn't the same as mine. That number does NOT appear with google. However, my published numbers (including previously published phone numbers from other states) came up on google.

Also found out that google will bring up info using street address also. It will provide a map for most street addresses. But, here again, other info such as name and phone number only appears when your phone number and address have been published or your address is part of some public record.

You're right! :-(

I typed my phone number into Google and up came my name and address

with a mapquest showing how to get to my home. Talk about privacy invasion!

Though, of course, you must assume everyone already knows who you are. The internet wasn't built for privacy.

Googling your name ("vanity surfing") can also yield surprising results.

MMMM I didn't think about trying my name. I tried my full name and found myself listed in a youth group that I had joined back when I was 13 or 14 years old. Mind you I listed myself on this groups website as an alumni on my own they didn't add me but still found myself along with one of my regular email addresses I use for regular email.
