i'm planning a trip to san francisco and would like to stay, for my first time ever, at a b&b. i do have a few questions that those more experienced than me might be able to answer.

any heads up that i should know about staying at a b&b?

are there any sf gay-friendly b&b?

would it be a problem having an escort visit me at a b&b?

I think that in SF all B&Bs would be gay-friendly; of course, it also depends on the other people staying there and how they react to you.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Jackson Court (http://www.jacksoncourt.com) and it was fine. It's located in Pacific Heights, an upscale neighbourhood in SF. I think you would have to be discreet about escorts visiting, however.

I can't speak about San Francisco specifically though I know at the B&B I stayed at in Palm Springs about a year ago having an escort in was not really an option.

Most B&B are also the owners personal residence. They tend to frown on that type of situation. Also, I find if you're going to be staying alone you might get bored really quick.

If you're looking for an alternative from the hotels then a B&B is a good place to stay. If you want privacy and a nearby location stay at a hotel instead. Especially in SF where there seem to be so many places to stay closer to the action.

Enjoy your trip.

I have stayed at the Parker House (try google for the website), great location in the Castro, nice people and a wide variety of guest rooms. It's the most upscale and nicest gay-owner B & B, but they still have some cheap rooms.
