Max, shame on you. The poor guy is reaching out, and obviously "Perhaps" doesnt answer ALL his concerns. Come on Hon, give it your usual Maxwell spin !

i am gay and i hate it. It interferes with an otherwise nice life with beautiful people who have nothing to do with being gay.

How does being gay interfere with the "beautiful people" you associate with? Am I missing something?

Exactly. We should no longer tolerate outdated expressions which perpetuate negative stereotypes.

I couldn't agree with you more. I have always seen "straight-acting" as offensive, it connotes that being gay is less than being straight or that gay is less desirable. Now, it has evolved from "Straight-acting" to "Are you masculine or feminine?"

I am who I am and I'm very happy with me as I am.

I'm glad i'm not the only one. I'm at a point now when I see an ad with some "straight acting" dude I get all smart ass on him. Like why do you need to act straight?

It implies that only straight guys can be masculine but I know some straight guys who are very feminine. What I see is allot of self hate. Then there's the ones where the GF is gone for the wknd when you know it's just another act. I just don't get it.

Straight actting is a self applied label to enable the user to Appeal to the sort of guy that is attracted to that. Many members on THIS site have said they will only hire or associate with guys that are Str8 or straight actting. Now Really ! Lets not go down this road again. They cant really be str8 (IMO) if they got a cock in their mouth or ass. Thats YOUR fantasy

and if it makes you feel better about YOURSELF, that says alot. Does that make YOU less gay if you fuck around with a Str8 or str8 actting guy ???? Twisted !

It is so funny, I think it takes more of a man to take a huge cock in their ass...

I realize that in this ever changing world in which we live in with gay4pay porn actors and gay4pay escorts that it might get just a bit confusing for some of us to understand just how gay we might really be. Or how gay we really need to be. Or want to be. God, after all these years of therapy, this now surfaces.......? Choices?

Does it really matter how gay you are to be happy being gay? How much gay is too much gay for you?

Does it really matter much if the guy you jack-off to in your "room" in porn is gay or gay4pay?

Does it matter much to you if the guy you hire is gay4pay as long as he kisses and is nice and shoots a big load of hot cum on your face?

Do any of us really need to be gay anymore to be really happy being gay when other people are willing to pay us to be so when we don't really need to be so to begin with?

Should I continue to remain gay?

Should I continue to be gay or should I look for other options? God knows, the ones I now have are pathetic.

I don't understand your questions. I think everyone knows that you're either gay or you are not, and that this is determined either by birth, or certainly by early childhood. The only choice is whether to remain celibate or not. Since I don't believe in reincarnation or an afterlife, there is no way I would ruin my one shot at life by being celibate. In fact, I would say that he who dies having had sex with the most handsome guys, wins. I'm not sure why anyone would have a problem with the term "openly gay." The term merely describes someone who doesn't hide his sexual preference with his friends, family, and the public in general. For most people living in free societies, I think it's probably healthiest from a mental health standpoint to be openly gay. I don't think I'd have the balls to be openly gay in places such as Uganda or Iran, however.

That's the most naive world view I have heard in quite some time. perhaps the rock that is sitting on your head is cutting off vital blood flow to your brain.

Oh dear, I can only imagine your pain if that is how you really feel, and worse than that, what you truly believe.

With that belief, I'd suggest that you have already wasted your one shot in life. It has nothing to do with being with "the most handsome'est of guys". It has everything to do with how YOUR life and your life choices complete you as a total and unique human being.

I don't think I'd have the balls to be openly gay in places such as Uganda or Iran, however.

There we can agree. But I'd be more concerned with your limited embrace of gay life over here, rather than, over there.

It seems pretty clear from the responses that not everyone has the same definiton for 'gay'. For some, 'gay' = 'homosexual'; for others, the terms are not equivalent, apparently.

Some define by preference, some by action.

I'm so glad there are others who agree with me. For the longest time, it seemed like I was the only one here who saw how offensive it was, and each time I'd mention it (after someone had posted they were seeking a "str8-acting" guy), I'd basically be told that I was being silly.

And yes, JJ, it's totally twisted!

So, Rick, I would be happy to agree with you, but what term or terms should we use instead? I see "straight-acting" as a useful label for a certain class of behaviors. The word saves me the trouble and wordiness of listing out those behaviors every time I want to refer to them. Similarly, I use "fruit" as a class label instead of listing out "apples," "oranges," "kiwis," "bananas," etc. To identify the "straight-acting" class of behaviors succinctly, I will cheerfully use any label you prefer.

Associated points:

--I don't know if "fruit" is still in use to indicate a gay man, as in "California, the home of the fruits and the nuts." If it is, do you object to "fruit" as well?

--BTW, I am assuming that we all pretty well know what many of those "straight-acting"/"fruity" behaviors are.

Excuse me! ;) was this necessary? Now I am by no means a fan of SoCal, but a little respect I think is in order here. ;)

YOU DON'T KNOW? How could you not possibly know? Is that not so offensive to yourself that you then feel as though you have to ask another gay man how offensive it actually really is? How old are you anyway and do you not have any self-respect for yourself?

That's probably one of the most offense and ignorant things I have ever read on this board or anywhere else, for that matter, from another gay man. Right up there with Anita Bryant.

Yes, it's very useful. So is using the term "white acting" for a black person who is articulate and doesn't steal. Oops...was that a bigoted statement? Well, so is yours. I assume you use the term "straight acting" to refer to someone who is masculine in their personality or behavior. That clearly implies that all straight men are masculine (they definitely are not) and that all gay men are effeminate (also definitely not true). So, why do you insist on using a term that perpetuates stereotypes just because it saves you "trouble and wordiness"? Also, "straight acting" and "masculine" both have three syllables, so it really saves you no time to say, while it does take more characters to type "straight acting" than it does to type "masculine."

I don't know if "fruit" is still in use to indicate a gay man, as in "California, the home of the fruits and the nuts." If it is, do you object to "fruit" as well?

Wow, is this for real? Yes, for the record, I object to fruit, the n-word, chink, dago, spick, hebe and every other repugnant bigoted word that was in vogue in the last century.

Totally agree. And I've been participating here a bit longer than you!

I don't insist on using the term "straight-acting." In fact, I would rather not. That is why I asked you explicitly what term you would like me to use. I think your answer was "masculine." True?

The remark about syllables and character strokes is clearly meant to be a sarcastic addition to your other remarks. I think.

I understand why you object to "straight-acting," I really do. It's just that whenever I read one of your posts on the topic, I keep waiting for you to suggest an alternative, and I haven't seen one yet. I may have missed the post where you did, and if so, I apologize.

Now, if I start using the term "masculine" (not "straight," not "male"), is that OK with you?

Rick, PLEASE dont take the word QUEEN away from me. It took me so long to get that Title ! :o
