lost title of investing book -- can anyone help?

...It's amazing how much information is available for the personal investor. ...
A few years ago, I picked up a very slim volume on investing written by two guys, one of whom was a financial planner who was dying of cancer. I first heard about it on NPR. I no longer remember either the authors' names or the title. Can anyone out there help? The book was notable for its common sense approach and its debunking of various investing myths. I'd highly recommend it...if I could remember the details.

A quick check of google brings this up: http://www.npr.org/2010/12/17/132134594/a-dying-investment-banker-makes-best-of-odds .

I thought you might mean The Elements of Investing. It's extremely simple, modeled after Strunk & White's The Elements of Style, and a must read for anyone wanting to be reminded of the simple rules we should all know. http://www.amazon.com/The-Elements-Investing-Burton-Malkiel/dp/0470528494

Hey Kevin, thanks very much! I tried googling, but it was very hard to come up with the right terms and I had no success. As you said, the book is terrific.

The Investment Answer by Goldie, DC, and Murray, GS, off the site that Kevin Slater quoted [above].

Given that most of the people here are ... ahem ... older, this book might be superflous.

For the beginning investor I highly recommend How to buy stocks by Engle et. al. Very basic primer.

For the bubbles, I recommend Peter Drehem's Psychology of the stock market. From tulips to ... i forget the last bubble ... interesting stuff.
