I was really shocked by the articles on the massage parlor murders in South Africa. (Thanks to Hole 4 Hire and BgMstr4U for posting links to the articles.)

Then, after reading those articles, I saw the following headline my local newspaper.
Utah Gays Ready for Trouble
Here's the link to the full article.

Apparently there is a group called Pink Pistols that promotes responsible gun ownership among gays and lesbians. Any thoughts about gays and guns? Would you consider carrying a concealed weapon?

How would you feel if your escort showed up packing? Are escorts concerned about clients who may be armed?

I can speak only for myself. I HATE GUNS and think they should be be much harder to get than they are today. There should be a minimum 2 month waiting period before purchase with a limit of one hand gun per owner, as the only purpose of hand guns is to shoot people. Along with that, all assault rifles and armor piercing ammo should be totally outlawed for purchase by civilians. I not only would not own/carry a gun I would not knowingly allow one in my home. Most gun fatalities in this country are committed by someone who knew the victim and not by criminals against unknown victims. It is just too easy to pick up a gun and shoot during a domestic dispute. This country is way way too easy in allowing the arming of it's citizens. After all, I live in Virginia, one of those backward states, with one of the easiest gun purchase laws in the nation. Probably half of the guns used to commit crimes in NYC and other points north of here, were very easily purchased here! Need a gun? Come on down here and get all you need!!

I have been shot twice in my life, but I would never, ever think about carrying a gun, much less pulling it out and shooting someone!

Personally, I don't really consider it a Gay issue as such. I see no reason why gays are more or less likely to use firearms than their not-so-gay counterparts :+ however.

I think the real issue is the wisdom for ANYONE (non-law enforcement) to pack a gun--legal or not.

Statistically, in the "self-protection" type of situation, the majority of fire-arm caused injuries occur to the person PACKING for the purpose of protecting themselves or their home, and NOT TO THE AGGRESSOR!

If someone is going to rob you or burglarize your home, you are much less likely to get hurt or killed if you DO NOT HAVE A GUN than if you do. These are readily verifiable statistics published my several organizations (other than the NRA of course) and most notably by the National Chief's of Police Association.

I am also a firm believer in gun control and making the buying of guns very hard if not imppossible--certainly harder to do than at present. I own guns, however, and am trained in their use, but would gladly register or give up if they were prohibited.

The USA has the most firearm related injuries and fatalities of any country in the world, barring war time situations, such as has been occurring since 9-11. I think that is a very tellng statistic.

As has been pointed out, domestic violence is the MOST prevalent occurring violence in America (I don't have stats on the other countries for this) and the availability of a gun or any weapon in these kinda situations is not smart.

As for Gays taking up arms to protect themselves as a picked-on, gay bashed, minority--BAD IDEA. At least IMHO :+

BTW, Great and timely topic--very worthwhile post. Nice to see once in a while.

Flower, thanks for the compliment and posting your thoughts. I, too, own guns and am trained in their use. But, the thought of a bunch of gays totin' iron to the local water hole makes me a little nervous.

BTW, I did visit this group's website to learn more about them. Seems there are almost 100 members and at least 30% of their members are STRAIGHT!! (They are 2nd Ammendment supporters that apparently belong to multiple gun-related organizations.)

I recognized the names of quite a few gay members and have considered them to be rather "middle of the road" guys and not "in your face" activists. While I'm sure some members can be rather enthusiastic in their approach, I'm beginning to think this is NOT a militia-type, red-neck organization.

That said, I would not be happy to be gettin' it on with my favorite escort and discover his concealed weapon. Any more thoughts from escorts or clients on self-protection?

The number of times I've handled a gun in my life I can count on two hands. I've never taken one when seeing a client.

I do know a couple other escorts that would often take a small gun with them in their gym bag. They kept it there with their other "essentials" such as condoms and lube. Don't think they every used it and assume that the clients never knew.

I personally think it's not a wise move for an escort to take a gun with them. In their personal (non-escort) life, it's really up to them whether they own a gun.

That said, I firmly believe that anyone who carries should be required to pass special training on how to handle firearms and when to use it.
