Spencer Remembered

There is a great tribute to Spencer, long time dancer at Adonis Lounge, posted by blogger Vincent Lambert on GAY DEMON today:

 

Death in the porn world is no different than in mainstream entertainment. In fact, some say that porn fans develop a deeper connection with our idols because we get to know them in such "intimate" ways. As most Whitney Houston queens know by now, time heals some but not all wounds. And fans of dancer Spencer would probably agree. It's been two months since the loss of the budding young star who shot for bothManifestMen and ParagonMen. We knew him as a go-go god at Adonis Lounge in NYC, but his great potential was clear to anyone with two eyes. "His physical attributes were obvious and striking, overshadowed only by his honesty, loyalty and character as a man," promoter Timothy de Iturriaga says. "We lost a very special person."

 

The Adonis crew recently held a fund-raiser to honor Spencer's memory. With the help of Swinging Richard's in Miami and Atlanta, and some private donors, the Adonis Lounge raised more than $2,000 for Spencer's family, so they would know how many lives he touched in his own short life. "I often make light of this eccentric world of male strip clubs and strippers," de Iturriaga adds, "but being in a position to organize this fund-raiser in Spencer's memory truly showed it can be much more."

 

The donations were also put toward a playground, which will be named in Spencer's honor, and a portrait of the buff 22-year-old bodybuilder, which you see above. TitledPortrait of Spencer in Shadow and Light, the oil-on-canvas painting was done by New York painter John Hyland, based on a photograph by Jason Jaskot. The artwork, like Spencer's memory, will live on for his family, friends and fans.
