Yeah, Cohn was an interesting guy. If he were in the same position today, I'm sure he would have ended up like that Idaho senator.

Roy Cohn, Malcolm X/ British Politician Sex

Anyone remember that one?

Now I am feeling very very old! Growing up, I discovered inadvertently that my own father had business dealings with Cohn, and had the "privilege" of sitting through a 60's-style 5 martini lunch he and my Dad and some other businessmen/lawyers had (while I duitiflly drank my Shirley Temple). Ran into him years later at my Dad's funeral but by then I knew who he was and managed to evade having to shake his hand (and by then the AIDS he had was very evident).

I met Roy Cohn in the 1970s. I was with one of the great barons of the NYC bar, and he had been a dear friend of Cohn's family, which was distinguished in NYC's legal circles. One relative was a well-regarded NY judge, and my (older) colleague believed the family was ashamed of Roy's shenanigans, first for Senator McCarthy and later as a master of the "strike suit."

When I met Cohn, I was glad not to shake his hand, as I was a follower of the Rosenberg Case (as was my older colleague), and we felt that Cohn had engaged in egregious misconduct as the prosecutor in that case. When I met him in person, my impression was that he was a slimeball in a designer suit.
