RE: DC's Le Cage Follies on "O" St SE

I've enjoyed reading this trip down memory lane.

One of the proposals for a new baseball park in DC calls for building a stadium with home plate right where Secrets is now. It would require the tearing down of La Cage and Folllies. It would alter the neighborhood enough that Wet would probably go away as well.

There'd be no reason left to visit DC!

We will never have another team as long as Peter Angelos owns the Baltimore Orioles and is sleeping in the same bed as Bud Selig who is the biggest joke of all time as baseball commissioner. Looks like they'll move the Expos to San Juan (which is about 1/100th as able to support a baseball team as Northern Virginia/DC). Baseball is my favorite sport and I used to go to the Senators games all the time (at old Griffith Stadium as a child and later at RFK when I was older). I absolutely refuse to drive to Baltimore and support the Orioles, no matter how much the Washington media tries to portray them as "our team"! I'm glad I was one of those idiots who stormed the RFK field at the last game in DC in 1971 against the Yankees which resulted in the Senators forfeiting the game in the ninth inning. See, I've always been an adamant protagonist (although some would say "jerk" or "asshole") in what I believe in. :-)

I asked the staff at both Secrets and La Cage about the stadium, and both groups feel strongly that the new stadium deal will not go through. I don't know if it's wishful thinking or not.

However, even if they are forced to close all three clubs, it won't necessarily mean the end of Secrets/La Cage/Wet. There is a law against any new male strip clubs in DC, but all three clubs fall under a grandfather clause that would allow them to relocate or sell their license.

I would be quite happy if all three clubs moved downtown. I hate having to go to SE DC to party.

Well, what a walk down memory lane!

I always preferred the Lone Star, as well. A bunch of us Rogue Rats would go there after the show ("Roll, Ella, roll!") and a few of the more uninhibited of us would join the dancers on the bar.

I'm sitting here looking at a poster advertising the Eagle in Exile. Saturday night I'd go from the Eagle to Man's Country to the Exile. And I'd come back to the Exile a few hours later for the brunch dance.

I always thought it was very Tennessee Williams that the Cafe Naples was located in the Terminal Hotel.
