R.I.P. Etta James

Etta James has lost her battle with leukemia.

 

She's one of those voices where even if you don't follow music and are not aware of musicians, you've heard and can recognize her voice.

Yes thank you Deej for posting this. I heard of her passing this morning.....one of the 'great ones,' made me sad. Such a unique talent.

I had the opportunity to see Etta at a small club in NYC a few years back. KICK ASS band, GREAT vocals put out by a "bawdy broad!"..

Truly one of the GREATS!

I never got a chance to see her perform, but listened to that voice a lot. She put everything she had into every song I've ever heard her sing.

The world has lost an amazing talent. I'm glad that she's no longer suffering and hope that she rests in peace. Heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.

I had the pleasure of being schooled by here twice when I lived in Seattle. Both shows were great and full of energy from the stage. The music world surely has lost one brazen hot diva. I don't normally shed a tear when celebrities pass but she earned it. Rip big mama!

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Ms. James. A truly great talent.

 

Of course, how I found out about it was even worse. The headline in my local fish wrap (The Richmond Times-Dispatch, aka, the Times-Disgrace): "At Last" Etta James dies. Truly awful and disgusting.

 

RIP Ms. James and thanks for all the memories you left behind for so many.
