I am a regular reader of the escort profiles on Gay Romeo. For the first time this morning I submitted a guestbook entry. It was a simple comment that this incredibly well hung boy had listed "anal top, oral top and kissing no" and added that it sounded like a rather loveless experience and that his endowment was the main source of interest. The entry was not recorded.

The penny then dropped. I can't recall ever reading a negative guestbook comment. They are usually effusive praise from satisfied customers or inane, mindless comments from dizzy queens praising to high heaven the body or endowment of the boy concerned or worse appalling poetry "especially" dedicated to the boy's beauty, endless wishes that they would visit their city etc etc. Also I noticed that if a boy has received, say, 6 positive comments from a satisfied customer when you click on the customer's profile a disproportionate number record a message "profile deleted". Food for thought.

I think there is some Old saying that goes something like "Noone wants to hear Bad news"... Alot of sites tend to delete negative comments or Warn you against posting them. Censorship at its finest.

GayRomeo is a pretty decent site, especially for Europe, but on the interactive section where a client (or anyone, for that matter) can comment on an escort, there are some difficulties.

 

First, the escort can simply opt to "turn off" that option so whatever reviews are posted, they do not appear - ever.

 

Second, the escorts have the ability to also (perhaps with the complicity of the web site operators, but this is not known), erase, or edit their postings. For instance, some years back one very disturbed client wrote really nasty things on the GayRomeo ads of most of the Hungarian escorts listed who had also acted in porn - accusing them of HIV, STD's and everything else under the sun, and they had no grounds to rebut him. That now seems to have changed but it also allows the escort to siomply have removed any critical posts.

 

Knowing thbis, while I might read of an escorts prowess on the site, I take the "reviews" and comments with a grain of salt. Still, it is the most reputable site I know for escorts NOT in the US.

I completely agree with Adriano - Gayromeo is certainly the best-run site for European escorts (and also non-pay hook-ups). It is a great deal more honest in its management than some other well-known escort sites.

The comment section has some dangers but it can often provide useful back-up. However, I take reviews anywhere with a fairly large pinch of salt.

I agree with Adriano and Isis. Gayromeo is a great site and the guestbook is a useful feature. Just like Tripadvisor and similar sites you have to learn to read "between the lines" and apply a bit of discrimination and common sense. However, unlike Tripadvisor and other "open" forums, the guestbook is a part of an escort's profile, his marketing tool for reaching potential clients. Therefore I don't think it odd if an escort deletes negative or disobliging comments. When did Coca-Cola or Microsoft last run an advertising campaign with lines like "But some people think our product is crap"?

 

The anti-Hungarian campaign appears to have started again. A few Hungarian guys were in London recently, some still are. I arranged to meet one of them but before the meeting a comment appeared in his Guestbook (anonymous, of course) claiming he had serious herpes. I suppose it might have been true - but I remembered that a year or two ago somone calling himself (I think) "escort-tester" posted a long screed on a number of escort profiles pointing out the physical deficiencies and health conditions of a long list of escorts - many of them Hungarian, usually "porn stars". So I decided to tell the escort in question. He was aware of the problem generally, put it down to another escort who uses "dirty tricks" as a competitive weapon, but said that gayromeo could do nothing about it. The guy creates a profile, posts the "nasty" comment and then deletes his profile. The escort's only remedy is to delete the comment from the guestbook.

 

I went ahead with the meeting - in fact met the guy twice. I posted a very postive comment showing my username (not the one I use here). Within 24 hours the comment about herpes had reappeared - in fact 3 consecutive entries in block capitals appeared at the same time. That alone suggests a hysterical obsessive. The escort in question has now moved on but I see he has now disabled his guestbook. That's a shame because I know that my comment was genuine and several other positive comments he had were "signed" by genuine users.

 

Adriano's comment perhaps explains why there seems a high number of disabled guestbooks among Budapest escorts.

I have a Free acct setup on Gay romeo, but am only able to view a limit of 600 profiles out of the thousands that are available.

 

How do you get unlimited access, by having a Paying acct ????

Londontop, you are 100% on spot with what you wrote about the Hungarians. I remember all the crap that the elusive "escort-tester" put on the comments section of so many of escorts who were also somewhat friends of mine. I had been with all of them, never ever caught a single STD from them. They too (perhaps the same guys??) told me they were aware of the comments, suspected who was behind it, and could do little else -- primarily because only a few of them are really fluent in English.

 

Recently one of them was in NYC and just about the time he left, there was an awful review of him placed on his ad (which he later erased).

 

By the way... one of the best escort-companions from Budapest I have ever met (especially for those clients who like a leisurely dinner or theatre with a strikingly handsome, urbane, suave gentleman who is tall, blond and (after the dinner and show) great in bed...

A couple of years ago I helped unmask a "faker" among gayromeo escorts and the site very kindly gave me a "Plus Account" subscription for free, and so far they keep on renewing it. An indication that the guys behind the site aren't only in it for the money. Therefore I'm a bit hazy about the basics. However I see that on their Home Page it says that "free" registration gives "unlimited profile viewing" so I'm not sure why your own viewing should be so limited. Could it be an "old" registration? Even so I'm surprised it doesn't automatically update.

A "Plus Subscription" gives access to greater storage of profiles and messages and, of course, to the XXX photos. I see they give "free" users access to some of the "Plus" features on Fridays through a scheme called "Happy Friday". May be worth looking tomorrow. If you can't find the answer to your problem, perhaps try the "Help" function - they have some volunteers giving online help pretty much all the time and they are also helpful in replying to emails.

I too uncovered a guy with fake photos etc... and reported it, and I too received an upgrade about 2 years ago. Nice staff ay GayRomeo.

Yes, ATTILA is the epitome of gallant. I enjoyed two wonderful evenings on separate occasions in Budapest with him, walking to fine restaurants, letting him do the ordering, very lively and enjoyable conversation (he will always passionately talk about his photography work if you want to hear it, and he has photographed almost all of the best Hungarian, Slovak and Czech guys around these days), and as far as being a TOP -- he does a lot of other things that can keep any client very happy.
