Looks like the text of my original post was snatched (if you'll pardon the use of this word) by the cyber fairies. So I'll try again.

I was referring to John Allen Muhammad and John Lee Malvo, the 17 year old kid who was posing as his "son".

When I originally saw the first picture published of the two, with their arms around each other, my gaydar went ping.

Now I see the National Enquirer in a front page story claims that they were gay lovers. I know the N.E. is a gossip rag, but their reporting has proven to be very accurate in the past.

When you read all the reports about how Muhammad arranged for Malvo to get into the country it sounds very suspicious.

What is your take on it> I vote yes.

I immediately thought what you did but I always suspect that I live in Disneyland so I put it aside. Since I do not read the N.E., I didn't know that they had a story on it. Do they say why or how they reached that conclusion?

Sorry - I don't know - just caught the headlines at the check-out counter.

I saw it at the check-out as well.

I put little faith in anything reported by the Enquirer, but I do know several people who work as publicists (or their assistants) in Hollywood. Part of their job is scanning the scandal rags for stories about their clients. They do this so that when a story hits a little too close to home they can start the spin engine to bury it.

Ever wonder why a celebrity you haven't heard from in a while suddenly shows up raising funds for a charity or whatever? Check the recent scandal sheets. It's probably to generate enough positive spin to drown out whatever story they ran.

There's a lot of garbage in those rags, but there's an occasional glimmer of truth. Or perhaps half-truth. And sometimes more than a little glimmer. :9

It seems to me more likely that they had a father-son relationship.

I think Malvo needed a father and Muhammad needed someone to mold in his own twisted image. There have already been reports that Muhammad had tried and failed to get custody of his children.

I certainly hope they didn't have a gay relationship; gay people have enough bad press as it is.

While I certainly don't know about the sexuality or lack of it regarding the Muhammed-Malvo relationship, what I have heard is that the picture with the two suspects arms around one another is in reality a cropped picture that includes Muhammed's real son as well. I believe I heard that said on one of the talking head shows by an aunt of Muhammed's real son. If this is true, it lends more credence towards the son-father relationship.
