Hate to break it to you, but negotiating over time is exactly the same as negotiating over rate-- not that there is anything at all wrong with negotiating in a free market economy.

You are correct. Is this any different than negotiating a rate change for an appointment on a slow day versus a busy day? Unless there’s a gun to the head involved, both parties either agree to the deal because they both benefit in some way, or they walk away from it.

Another point. I am a professional and some of my clients negotiate my fee. While I certainly do the same quality work for them as for those who pay my full fee, I don't like them as much and don't enjoy my work for them as much, knowing that they negotiated down my fee.

Negotiations aren’t one-sided. You must have gotten some benefit from the deal, otherwise, why would you have agreed to it?

While I certainly do the same quality work for them as for those who pay my full fee, I don't like them as much and don't enjoy my work for them as much, knowing that they negotiated down my fee. In my case, that's invisible to my client, but an escort may not always be able to so easily hide that from his client.

Wow this seems pretty self abusive...if you lower your fee and then resent it, why do you do it? If someone asks me for a reduced fee and I do not feel good about it, I just flat out (in a non-hostile way) tell them no. If I never hear from them again it is fine. I would not have wanted them as a regular client... so on to the next. There are always others out there that will value my service.

If someone asks me the lower my rate for a massage I find it insulting. allot of guys are charging the same or more with absolutely no education or training and I point that out to them. unless a persons suffering from pain a massage is a luxury item. I don't call over to hollywood tan and ask them to lower their price if I can't afford it I stop going.. I feel the same about an escort and their business if clients look at their rate and can't afford it then move on to the next profile. It's a luxury item.

Sure I got a benefit. I still made good money off the client. If I hadn't, or if I was too busy with better paying clients, I would have said no. I agreed to it because the alternative was not to do the work and to be that much less busy and to make that much less money. But if you think I felt the same way about that client that I do about other clients, or that escorts who are negotiated down from their asking price feel exactly the same way about those clients than those who pay the asking price, I think you've got a very rosy view of human nature.

As I just mentioned elsewhere, I don't see it as self-abusive because I still made good money off the client (or I wouldn't have accepted the work). My only point is that I like the clients who pay full fare more than the ones who don't. Does that affect my work? I don't think so, but maybe I'm wrong. Would it affect an escort's work, which is so personal and nuanced and intimate that most anything could interfere with it? I think it's much more likely in that business.

I still think GROUPON is a good idea.... The escort subscribes, and the client gets a $300 session for only $150.... Thats a win-win !!!! GROUPON I say....

Novel idea. Unfortunately Groupon takes 50% of the cut leaving the Escort with $75. If he works on Craigslist he has not a thing to lose :)
