I like reading fiction about slavery, but so much of it is pure dreck, with undeveloped characters, unbelievable situations and far too much unmotivated grunting and groaning. So I heartily recommend the single best slavery fiction series I have run across, the Dahra series by a brilliant writer, Gerry Taylor. It is about a British banker in a fictional Middle Eastern country who ends up owning hundreds of slaves. It is so well written that the world it creates is, at least to me, almost endlessly fascinating. And the series is so long that it can entertain one for many a happy read.
