The garoto "Recession" at Fragata seems to have leveled off

I returned to Fragata again last tonight. The place was fairly busy and I had a very good time. However, the crowds during this past week were no where near what they used to be before the sauna “recession” hit, beginning in 2010.

 

As I, and many others have reported recently, there was a major decline of quality and quantity of garotos (recession) at Fragata and to a lesser degree, at Lagoa.

 

I also separately reported on my visits to Recife and Porto Alegre where a decline has also occured.

 

A similar decline was reported in Rio de Janeiro by others.

 

My time in Rio during the past year was fairly brief as I chose to spend the majority of my Brazil time in Sao Paulo with intermittent visits to Porto Alegre and Recife (where there is also a decline in the quality and quantity of sauna garotos).

 

Although it might be premature to assume that the decline has stabilized, I am optimistic that at a minimum, Fragata will survive and that over time, garotos will return to the saunas.

 

It was suggested by a poster to this forum that looking for “escorts” on Brazil’s web sites is a viable alternative to looking for garotos in saunas. I accessed the sites that were recommended but I was not at all impressed with what I saw available on those sites.

 

I fear that any attempt to substitute an in-person meeting that occurs in the saunas with a photo and narrative that appear on an internet site is a roadmap to disappointment.

 

I have friends who used Brazil web sites to hunt for “escorts” and most of the time, the person being advertised was not the same person who arrived in response to the ads. Substitutions are the norm rather than the exception in Brazil.

 

In some countries the internet is a good way to meet escorts. However, Brazil sauna guys are more "people oriented" rather than computer oriented. Most of the garotos that are appealing and who visit or visited the saunas do not have e-mail addresses and do not know much about a computer. This sort of “innocence” contributes to the charm of the sauna garoto, in my experience and opinion.

 

Like I wrote at the beginning of this thread, maybe things have leveled off for now. We will just have to wait and see what happens with the quantity and the quality.

...enjoyed the read as usual, but in regard to escorts obtained from agencies, if the guy who is sent to you is NOT the one you've requested-- one is NOT obligated to accept second/third choice that's sent by an agency.

I know I would definitely NOT go with someone who I did not request. I've hired via agencies in both Rio and Sao Paulo and have only received who I requested. All of my experiences have been positive, too, in regard to the preceding!

 

I'll see in October what's happening in Rio de janeiro regarding escorts (independents) as well as the guys who work in the saunas. Thanks for posting; I've keenly read and taken in this topic during the past few months!
