Makes your blood boil, doesn't it...

If it's any consolation, there is now a committee on every University of California campus called "The committee on human experimentation", and

any time a graduate student does *any* research involving human interaction, no matter how innocous seeming, it needs to get approved.

[even computer science students wanting to study what graphical user interfaces are easier to use, or security researchers doing stuff on the effectiveness

of those distorted letter/number images called capchas need to get approval from this committee].

That is the exact phrase that came to my mind.

Thanks bc for bringing this hideous crime to our attention. And it was a crime, even if shrouded as research.

BC, thanks for posting. I'll whisper a prayer for Kirk and the other victims.

'You are not a man until you give your love, truly and freely to a child. And you are not a good man until you earn the love, truly and freely, of a child in return'.

Poor Rekers: speaking of denial ... and hypocrisy ... :(

As to Lucien, I'm surprised that he spilled the beans to the media and whilst not knowing what's the background to this story, that goes against my principle of professional secrecy.

And when Lucien is saying that he still "would like to be his friend" isn't that hypocrisy too ...

Tragic Tidbits, re: George Rekers

Well, I wouldn't call it a "tidbit"! Btw, I would add that Rekers is a sickie and a criminal but so are the parents. The father is the one who did the beatings and the mother did nothing to stop it.

Even 30 yrs. ago, this violated common sense. I would wager that any one of us knows how to act "straight." It doesn't do a damn thing about what we feel. That his "research" is still being used as a rational to support reorienting sexual preference galls me. I'm rewriting Dante--and there will be a very special place for folks who practice this type of criminal fraud.
