I avoid this show, I find the host to be annoying, and the premise too predictable. There will always be good and bad people when provoked, this is life as usual. I do not find it all enlightening to have a network profit from shows that dissect and show us every angle of humanity in their network "laboratory".

I'm not a fan of the show. I was interested in the number of states who can refuse service to gays. I'd be interested in knowing how those laws read.

I thought it was very touching, esp. the part where the guy went outside and wrote the family a letter of support. There are preconceived ideas of how people think in red states vs. blues states and this shattered that stereotype. I think shows like this can be very educational and inspiring. But I'd really like to know what bcohen thinks of this. You often post these video clips without any commentary at all. What's your opinion? :)

First, the whole scenario seemed "off." Waiters are there to earn a living, not give opinions on what patrons are doing. If anyone was going to give the gay parents a hard time, it would have been the manager, who would have claimed he was "protecting" the other patrons. And the acting by the 10-year-old girl wasn't that great. I think many of the people in the restaurant smelled a rat.

About that one patron who made the comment to the waiter: Maybe he is, in fact, a bigot. Or maybe he was trying to find a way to find common ground with the waiter before telling him that he should keep the comments to himself. ( "I see where you're coming from, but you shouldn't have...")

If it were I watching the scene, I like to think I would have walked out and told the manager why. But I'm in NYC, where it wouldn't have happened at all.

The whole premise of the show is artificial-it is almost as bad as undercover policemen who try to entrap gay guys in bathrooms by flashing at them. The situation is false, so to try to gauge the public's reaction to a phoney scenario portrayed by (bad) actors is pointless.> I found it totally unbelievable that a young waiter would force his ludicrous opinions on the customers-it would have cost him his job. I hate this show!

This show is a good reason to stop watching TV. I haven't seen this episode, but they are all the same. Trapping innocent people to see whether they will get involved in someone else's plight.
