Has anyone out there seen the dvd "Leather Jacket Love Story"? Well, I rewatched parts of it last night.... and in the blonde guy's bedroom, there is a large poster of Lauren Bacall in "Sweet Bird of Youth". I have looked on ebay and various theatre poster sites and can't find anything like it.... except that she did it in London.... anybody have any idea where else I could look for it?

Also, I am still looking for a print like the one that used to hang in Chandler and Joey's apt on "Friends" and also in Joey's apt on "Joey"... it was of a woman that looked a lot like Jane Russell, holding a knife and it said, "Lover's (Love's??) Revenge... I think it maybe from an opera from Puccini.... I even wrote the set designer years ago but not surprisingly, didn't hear back...

Any help would be much appreciated.

have you tried...?

Have you tried going onto google.com and doing a search for those titles and then clicking on IMAGES on the left to see if you can get an image that way?

Hi Okie,

I assume that you have tried some of the poster sites in the UK. If not, perhaps through some of the escort connections you have with guys in London they can be of help. I am sure there are still photos of her in that play around, but as you said, the trick is finding the right source.

This past weekend there was a 70 year old guy who collects posters and magazines on his own selling from his collection in a local mall. I could hardly believe everything that he had. Someone like that may in fact be your best source, but I have no idea how you would go about alerting those independent and entreprenurial guys to what you are looking for, especially if it originated in the UK.

Good luck.

It says for Lover's Revenge the following from a website:

There are some links under the poster that you could click on to try to find a poster of it but if it's true that it was never printed then you may need to create a digital image and do something with that.

url is at: http://www.chasingprops.com/friends.html

It reads:

This belongs to Joey as it turns up later in the series after Chandler has moved in with Monica. It is a Movie Poster from a Howard Hughs Film Called "Vendetta" starring Faith Domergue. I have yet to see a poster with the "Lovers Revenge" writing on it for sale, as is on the Friends poster. You can sign the petition though if youd like the Poster to become available.

Vendetta is a 1950 film based on the 1840 novella Colomba by Prosper Mérimée, about a young Corsican girl who pushes her brother to kill to avenge their father's murder.

The film, produced by Howard Hughes as a vehicle for his latest discovery, Faith Domergue (pronounced "Dah-mure")

Filming began in 1946, but the production was plagued with problems. At least five directors worked on it, some leaving when they were either fired or quit because of producer Howard Hughes' constant interference, others being hired only to shoot retakes or small bits of new footage. The film was finally released in 1950 after costs had ballooned to more than $4 million - a staggering sum at the time for a picture that wasn't an epic and had no big stars - and was a major critical and box-office disaster.

At the risk of treading of Gcursor's toes... !

Okie, I contacted the archivist, Catherine, at The Theatre Royal Haymarket, as I actually saw this production, starring Lauren Bacall, way back in 1985.

Unfortunately, Catherine informed me that the majority of the Haymarket's archive was held at the Theatre Museum in Covent Garden, and after it closed down, the archive was transferred to the Victoria & Albert Museum storage facility at Blythe Road, where it languishes in crates, due to a lack of funding for cataloguing.

However, she believes she is holding playbills for this production and will check to see if there are also any copies of the poster at the Haymarket, and if not she will ask the V&A if they would consider rifling the Haymarket stack to see if they have one that you could have. I've been asked to give her a couple of days grace, so I should be able to get back to you later in the week.

Best.

Above and beyond....

That's what you two did for me, Rich and Gcursor..... And what makes this place so much more than the beautiful boys... Very grateful...

I started to title this post "I'm stunned"..... because I am... that Rich knows the archivist at the theatre where Bacall did this in 1985??? Seriously??? And that Gcursor found a site dedicated to props from "Friends"?? Really.... I have been looking for that poster forever..... and now, to know the story behind it.... very gratifying.

I fucking love gay men..... not shocking.... but sometimes, just for their humor, their kindness, their loyalty, their cleverness, their resiliency and their love of dogs ...... and quite sluttily, lots of times, just for his gorgeous, blonde dancer ass...

Blending threads now, sorry..... the "I'm stunned" thing made me think of the "Boys in the Band"... as in, Donald asks, "How do I look?" and Michael counters, "You're stunning.......... You look like shit...... but I am absolutely stunned."

In our own way, we kind of are the boys in the band here.... but cyberly... all at the same party.... talking about it all.... sometimes, pleasantly, other times, more heatedly....

But now to quote another favorite gay movie, "Jeffrey"... and no, not about Dahmer..... at the end, a character, stepping into the light, says, "Remember........ it's still our party."

WAY..... off topic.... but file it all under ..... many thanks.
