Daddy had a big cover of this on the reviews page but I wanted to post a thread to encourage everyone to give what they can to help support the guys we have riding in the AIDS/LifeCycle Ride.

David, Andrew, Lance, Tony -- thank you for taking your time to support this wonderful cause. You all, each of you, are simply amazing men for doing this. But as with many of us, I'm sure, money must be allocated where it is needed most. David, Andrew and Tony have already raised the $3,000 needed to ride. Lance still has a ways to go to get to that level so I've made my contribution to help support Lance to get him into the ride. He's about $1100 short right now. Surely in this group of amazing men on the forum we can garner enough support to help get Lance into the ride.

You don't have to make a single donation, they can split it into any number of months. Just please give if you can. Below are the links to the pages for each of our four riders in the race. I really encourage each of us to do what we can.

Good luck guys! Keep us informed of how you are doing. You all are simply amazing.

I saw you contirbution on David's list so thanks gcursor. I didn't realize Daddy had started a thread and put it as a sticky (I rarely look at stickys since they are always there -- my bad). I've asked this thread to be deleted and to make all comments and HOPEFULLY CONTRIBUTIONS on the thread started by Daddy.

Lee,

I don't want to put a downer on your post which is a great idea, but am just wondering if the guys are OK about revealing their identities via this Board, ie. as I hit the link to donate to Lance, the donation page shows his full name.

Just a thought. :)

Rich -- yes it does. I'm guessing Daddy may have vetted it with each of the guys first since he was the original poster. Hopefully those of us who are going to be making contributions to the riders are mature enough that it's not going to cause any issues. I know I certainly have the real names of many of my escorts but that was by their choice. I know I can switch back and forth between real and stage names with no problem. Hopefully most of us are in the same boat anyway.

But thanks for the heads-up

Lee,

Apologies, like your good self, I didn't realise the post originated from Daddy and was a sticky, or I would have voiced my concern there. I appreciate my response smacks of paranoia, it's just that a young friend who appears in porn was outed over on PornWikiLeaks, that sites sole purpose is to organise campaigns to harass pornstars and escorts who are bisexual. His parents got hatemail (they had no idea what he was doing), they contacted his 'day job' (he got fired), etc. etc.

Thanks for not taking umbrage, and understanding I wasn't having a pop at you. I was just looking out for a group of guys who IMHO are doing something wonderful.

Rich, it really isn't paranoia -- more like practical concern which I appreciate. We all struggle with this issue -- I know each time I get the escort's real name I sort of feel like I've been let in on a secret I shouldn't know. But it was their choice to let me into their world and I can't express the confidence they show in me by sharing that most personal of information.

I generally don't take umbrage. They rarely make it my size. :)

I made donations to two of the four riders who are mentioned in this thread. I might get to see them ride, too, because they pass my townhouse while going to one of the rest stops. I plan to drive 13 miles to see them and my roadie friend while they're all at lunch!

This is one damn stellar cause in which I've been interested for some time.

This year I would have volunteered to be a "roadie" but was assured or guaranteed that I'd be with my friend on the 'food serving' crew!

Well, I'll be out there to give additional support while they are in the Monterey, CA area for a brief time before journeying south to Los Angeles!!!!

Thank you, your Grace. I wish I could be out there to support them but the best I can do is make a contribution. We have just got to get Lance over the top to get him into the ride.

However, one thing I came across today should be of interest to our forum. The AIDS/Lifecycle channel on youtube obviously has videos about the ride, mosttly from prior years. One of them is a song I just heard and have fallen in love with. But there's another reason to love this video. See if you find someone you know:

The ride begins today. I sent David a couple of texts last night wishing him the best and asking him to convey best wishes to all of our guys. The opening ceremonies are supposed to be webcast live in about an hour from now. And we can follow the trip on their website http://www.aidslifecycle.org/.

Good luck guys! And thanks for doing this for all of us.
