IML - Chicago

I am curious to find out about what one can expect should they go to Chicago for IML....Can some forum posters who have been before, give us an idea of what it is like and what kinds of things/activities can a visitor expect....I am thinking of going for a couple of days but would like to know if it will be a good time....

It will be a great time. A little bit of everything goes on during IML. There is information on the official events at http://IMRL.com. Which include not just the contests but also parties, dances, workshops, panel discussions, and demonstrations.

But there are also lots of unofficial events. It seems that many bars in the city and surrounding area will have some event tie in to IML.

Also lots and lots of people plan parties and orgies and what not around that time. IML usually has a shuttle bus taking people between the downtown host hotel and Boystown and maybe Andersonville or Rogers park. Simply sitting in the hotel lobby (if you can find a seat) and watching the thousands of leathermen (and their fans) is entertaining. Even without officially registering for IML one will find plenty to do. Various clubs and organizations often have a meet and greet during that time.

The leather market has hundreds of vendors and is open to the public with a small donation to charity.

There are usually a couple porns filmed during the weekend. And of course tours to various things in Chicago including of course the Leather Museum and Archives.

There will certainly be fetish parties and not just leather ones. Usually just about every type one can imagine in both the hotel, various bars and nearly every dungeon (gay, straight or pansexual) in the city. Or at least so it seems.

Hi Rich,

I agree with Raul...it is hard to imagine IML unless you have actually been there. I used to live in Chicago and had friends from all over the USA come into town for this event. According to them some of the hottest times ocurred in the hotels they stayed at. Just wandering up and down the halls, or meeting guys at the bars provided all the hot times they needed, and as Raul said, almost every possible fetish is available somewhere. With your interests, it will be like a never ending buffet, so you can sample anything and everything to your hearts desire! And, since Chicago guys are very friendly to begin with, that hospitality seems to spread to all in attendance.
