HRC placed an ad in the Richmond Times Dispatch urging support for proposed revisions to Virginia regs to allow it. But I fear with our retrograde governor and our attorney general (who gives Neanderthals a bad name) I don't know the chances. But it's time. It's decades past time.

But if I wanted to adopt a child, I damned well ought to be able to. Well I would have but given my advanced years. Another one of Virginia's silly laws -- the combined age of a couple adopting cannot be more than 80 years. So if the husband is 45 and the wife is 36 -- sorry, out of luck. So my mate would have to be in his early 20's. Mind you, I'm not saying that's a problem.

 

In the meantime, kids bounce through the foster care system or languish in group homes for years all they while there are loving, great people who want to adopt.
