The only recent activity in Los Angeles involving a prostitution sting involved women and their clients.

 

It would be quite difficult for the police to target/sting a gay website.

 

It is not unusual for "reports" you mentioned to get embellished or gender changed.

In most male escort stings the cops will pose as a client seeking an escort then charging the escort when the sting goes down. In the male side of the business LE likes to pose as the client and make multiple busts in a hotel. I have never heard of any case where LE posed as male escorts with ads on escort sites to bust male clients. Where with females side of the business the LE will pose as a escort or as a client. I had a friend for a few years that worked in LE for years he told me once that vice spends the majority of their budget on picking up street prostitutes and their clients followed by the craiglist. las vagas likes to run stings and so does Nashville but its the escorts being arrested not clients..

Lucky you... Unfortunately, my client from Boston can't say the same thing. He hired me from Rentboy in Vegas last year and when I came he told me that he had to come back to Vegas because of his prior arrest (had a court date). Called a guy off craigslist and the guy who arrived was indeed a vice cop. They dropped the solicitation charge HOWEVER my client was visiting with his EX - who turned out - brought controlled substances with him and after my client got arrested cops did a full search in his hotel room and found these things. He got charged with that too and that is why he had to come back to Vegas. So trust me : IT DOES EXIST!!!
